Euro 2020: Who has qualified for knockout stages? The confirmed teams in European Championship round of 16

Italy's win over Switzerland saw them become the first team to qualify for the Euro 2020 knockout stages. These are the teams who have reached the round of 16 at the European Championships so far, with the top two in each group set to progress, along with the four best-performing third place nations.

Sixteen teams will reach the Euro 2020 knockout stages.
The top two in each group will all progress, with the final group games scheduled for June 23.
And four of the six third-place teams will also qualify from the group stage.
If points can't separate teams in then progress will be decided via by the following categories, in this order: Goal difference, Goals scored, Wins, Lower disciplinary points total, European Qualifiers overall ranking.
Here are the nations who have qualified for the tournament's round of 16 so far.

Group A

Italy, Wales, Switzerland, Turkey

What happened:
Italy are through top of the group after a flawless display in the group stages. Three wins and no goals conceded mark Italy out as the tournament's dark horses. Wales scrape through to the next round despite a 1-0 defeat to Italy in their final group match, while Switzerland made the cut as one of the four best third-placed teams.

Group B

Belgium, Russia, Finland, Denmark

Belgium, Denmark
What happened:
Denmark roared into the last 16 after downing Russia 4-1 in a raucous Copenhagen in their final game. Belgium will play a third-placed team in the last 16 after topping the group.

Group C

Teams
Austria, Netherlands, Ukraine, North Macedonia
Qualified
Netherlands, Austria, Ukraine
What happened:
The Netherlands are through after three wins from three while North Macedonia prop up the group.
Austria's win over Ukraine saw them leapfrog their Group C opponents into second place, although both teams progress.

Group D

Teams
Czech Republic, England, Croatia, Scotland
Qualified
Czech Republic, England, Croatia
What happened:
England and Czech Republic were already through after results elsewhere confirmed their progress ahead of their Wembley showdown. The Three Lions confirmed top spot with a 1-0 win.
Croatia's 3-1 win over Scotland at Hampden Park saw them leapfrog the Czechs into second place and seal their last 16 place.

Group E

Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Poland
Qualified
Sweden, Spain
What happened:
Spain's 5-0 win over a hapless Slovakia in their final game looked to have secured them top spot until Sweden snatched a late win against Poland to head into the round of 16 as group winners.

Group F

Teams
Portugal, France, Germany, Hungary
Qualified
France, Germany, Portugal.
What happened:
France sealed top spot after a draw with Portugal in their final game, leaving the holders third but also through to the last 16. Germany were held to a draw with Hungary but the point was still enough for a second place finish.

  • 3. Switzerland - 4 points (-1)
