Good afternoon! Welcome to live coverage of Croatia versus Spain in the round of 16 at Euro 2020. We’re halfway through this opening bout of fixtures in the knockout phase and, bar Denmark’s shellacking of Wales, it’s been tight; Italy went to the brink against Austria, the Czech Republic upset the Netherlands and the reigning champions Portugal were dumped out by Belgium. This evening we’ve got what looks like another coin flip between 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia and a Spain team fresh from thumping Slovakia 5-0 in their last match. The Croats are at the end of a generation, while Spain are wondering what to make of this one; it’s another fascinating match in what has been an absorbing tournament. Let’s get it popping then; team news to follow from Copenhagen shortly.

FT
That's it; Spain have won an absolutely breathless encounter 5-3 after extra time.
120'
OFF THE POST! Everyone has gone here. Spain walk it through the middle of the Croat defence; they eventually work it to Olmo, who curls a shot onto the post and Croatia scramble the rebound away.
117'
The steam has gone out of Croatia here; it's been a stunning effort to get it to extra time, but Spain are now putting to bed a game they should have won comfortably in 90 minutes.
116'
GOOD SAVE! One loose ball skids through the midfield and Croatia's defence, and Morata is in. He bears down on goal and shoots at the near post, where Livakovic makes a smart save to put the ball behind for a corner.
114'
Croatia have taken off Modric and replaced him with Luka Ivanusec. Is this the last time we'll see Modric in international football?

Spain are playing keepball now. Croatia aren't spent, but there's acres of space everywhere and they're running out of time.
109'
This is just chaotic now; Croatia are throwing everyone forward when they get it, and leaving themselves outnumbered on the break. Both sides look knackered, and there are mistakes everywhere.
106'
We're off again, and Croatia nearly score from the kick off! Pasalic prods a pass through to Budimir, who's clean through, but drags his shot inches wide from 12 yards out.

What a 15 minutes that was. Croatia should have gone ahead, but now trail 5-3.

Phew! I'll just dip my fingers in ice before we get going again.
105'
It's nearly six! Morata nicks the ball off Pasalic in the inside right channel, and he's haring through on goal. He tries to cut across the last man, Brekalo I think, who does just enough to get a touch on the ball and the chance drifts away.
103'
GOAL! Croatia 3 Spain 5 (Oyarzabal 103)
It's five for Spain! Olmo and Morata play a one-two down the right. Olmo fires a gorgeous cross-cum-pass to Oyarzabal, free in the area. He's got enough time to take two touches, before shooting through Livakovic for another goal!

GOAL! Croatia 3 Spain 4 (Morata 100)
Spain are back in front! Olmoclips a ball to the back post. It drops over Brekalo and is pulled down perfectly by Morata, who then booms the bouncing ball high past Livakoic into the roof of the net! That will shut a few keyboard hard cases up. It's 4-3!

Spain take the sting out of it with a couple of minutes of possession.
97'
Jordi Alba breaks into the Croat area on the left. He back heels to Olmo, whose low shot is blocked and goes behind for a corner. This is just wonderful, breathless stuff.
96'
WHAT A SAVE! Redemption for Simon! The sensational Orsic utterly skins Azpilicueta on the left. He fires low into the six yard box, Kramaric hit first time, and Simon makes a brilliant point blank save to keep it level!
94'
Croatia are overpowering Spain here. A hoofed ball over the top leaves Pau Torres one on one with Kramaric; he looks so uncomfortable as it bounces behind him and buys a very soft free kick to nix the danger.
92'
CLOSE! What a difference Orsic has made. A cross breaks to him on the edge of the area, and he whistles his shot a yard over the bar.
