Spinazzola gets into the box from full-back and fires a shot away from an angle that is well saved by the Turkey keeper. Italy have their tails up after that goal.

GOOOAAALLL!!! Italy have the lead and it’s an extremely unfortunate own-goal. Italy carve the defence open and Berardi smashes a cross right into the mixer, where there’s nothing that an off-balance Demiral can do as the ball strikes him and cannons into the net. 1-0.

Under has made a real difference to Turkey’s attacking threat and he wins the ball before launching a solo attack. It’s the right option given the lack of support, but he can’t shrug off the covering defenders and his effort takes a touch through to the keeper.

That’s better from Turkey, who break through Yilmaz but this time with two players up with him. Under is slightly unfortunate not to get a free-kick when taken out down the left.

And Turkey have brought on another attacking option.

The half-time whistle goes and Italy crowd the referee to protest that non-penalty decision. What could be an unpleasant moment is dispersed quickly by Chiellini and the teams head down the tunnel.

Italy appeal for a penalty and it’s being checked by VAR, but the decisions isn’t made, much to the Italians’ frustration. It does feel a little bit like it’s a deliberate ploy from Italy to hit crosses at defenders from close-range when there isn’t space for anything better, but it’s not being met with much from the officials.

Yilmaz charges into the box and dives for a penalty. It’s not the first attempt to win a spot-kick in the game (all the others have been from the Italians) but it’s by far the least subtle. Chiellini laughs as he picks the Lille striker up.

Immobile darts into a pocket of space at the end of a sharp move, but his shot is comfortably saved.

Italy build again, but Turkey have literally everybody back, and it’s extremely tough to create anything when faced with such a daunting bank of deep defenders.
39'
This time it’s Berardi who has a go from range, but it doesn’t trouble Ugurcan Cakir.

Insigne finds space on the edge of the box, and not for the first time either, but his shot is tame, straight down the throat of the keeper.

Yilmaz makes the run again for Turkey, this time down the left, and his cross very nearly picks out a red shirt in the box, and it would have done were it not for Donnarumma punching it clear.

Italy have enjoyed 67% of possession so far in this game, and it feels like it too (if not more tbh).

Immobile backs away and tries to get a header away under pressure from two defenders, but can’t quite get it on target. That was a decent effort to even produce that tbh.
32'
Insigne darts into the box and flashes a ball across the box, which is deflected behind. The corner comes to nothing but immediately the ball is back under Italy’s control and the pattern starts all over again.
