Football news - Arsenal v Vorskla Europa League match 'will go ahead in Kiev tonight'
Updated 29/11/2018 at 12:16 GMT
Vorskla Poltava have reportedly confirmed that Thursday night’s Europa League match against Arsenal will go ahead.
UEFA moved the clash to Ukrainian capital Kiev due to escalating political tensions between Ukraine and Russia which caused the former to impose martial law on some areas of the country.
Arsenal subsequently flew to Kiev on Wednesday and manager Unai Emery held his press conference at the Olympic Stadium in the city.
However, it was still unclear whether the match would proceed with Vorskla suggesting they had no guarantees the stadium would be able to hold the match, with thousands of their supporters being forced to trek to the capital.
A report from AP now says Vorksla have agreed that the game will go ahead and that, “fans with tickets from Poltava will be given reservations for sectors of the stadium in the capital”.
Arsenal have already qualified from Group E but Vorskla still have hope of beating Sporting to second place.
