FULL TIME

There we go.

Arsenal have fought back, they have the win, the three points, and they're top of the table.

The performance wasn't exactly vintage. It was pretty poor at times. But it's job done in Vienna.

  • Bernd Leno
Yellow cardBernd LenoArsenalLeno picks up a booking for time-wasting. Seven bookings in total now.

Amazingly, Ritzmaier - the Barnsley loanee - is replaced by former Barnsley man Knasmullner.

90'

Last minute of the 90. The Gunners just rolling it around the corners now.

88'

Arsenal just casually looking to kill this game off now.

Aubameyang and Bellerin have changed the game with their experience and cutting edge. The result has looked in little doubt since their arrival and Luiz's equaliser.

GOALSMAN

83'

If Arsenal can avoid any silly mistakes then they will walk away with three points.

But Leno has had three very shaky moments at the back so that's a medium-sized 'if'.

80'

Rapid Vienna are still putting up a fight, but Lacazette has missed a golden chance to equaliser.

The ball over the top from Luiz falls for the Frenchman but he lashes at the effort.

78'

Bellerin and Aubameyang have changed the game and all the momentum is with Arsenal now.

  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Just like that.

Bellerin makes a perfect run in behind, puts it across the six-yard box and Aubameyang is there for a tap-in.

73'

CHAOS!

Leno smacks a clearance against Luiz and Fountas is once again with an open goal.

Gabriel does just about enough to delay the goal and Fountas' shot is well off target but it's more madness at the back.

  • David Luiz

Free-kick to Arsenal in absolute zone 1A.

60'

CLOSE!

Once again Leno makes a complete mess of a ball out from the back and Fountas almost makes it two but for a save from the 'keeper.

He looks dead nervous.

58'

Partey looks a cut above the rest of this Arsenal side and he must be wandering what more he could've done.

The visitors are knocking it around the back but still they cannot find a way through.

55'

Can Arsenal respond?

They're back at Rapid Vienna but they look a little stunned and their hosts are coming at them on the counter again.

Arase down the right is causing trouble and the Gunners just don't really look all that up for it.

53'

A complete loss of concentration and the back and what some would call a Luiz special.

  • Taxiarchis Fountas

GOAL! RAPID VIENNA 1 ARSENAL 0 (Fountas)

What's this!?

Luiz tries to play out from the back, gives it back to Leno who just gives it straight to Fountas via a deflection off another green shirt.

Fountas passes it into the empty net and it's eight in eight for the Greek.

50'

Big shout for handball on Saka who, for no reason whatsoever, controls the ball with his upper arm.

A few months ago, before the new rules, that's a pen.

48'

Ritzmaier the Barnsley boy is looking a great player down the left.

Elneny is his match though and has spent most of his time booting clearances.

46'

BACK UNDERWAY

Right, let's be honest, that first half was pretty rubbish.

Let's do better guys. GO!

  • End of 1st Half

HT

Few chances, if any, to speak of. Arsenal haven't been threatened but neither have they caused Rapid Vienna much trouble either.

They need to ask a few more questions in the second half.

45+3'

Cedric is getting into midfield and combining well with Pepe, but they can't produce the spark the break the deadlock.

We're almost at the end of three minutes of stoppage time.

45'

It has to be said, Arsenal hardly deserve to be ahead as things stand.

If anything, Rapid Vienna have been the better side in the last ten minutes.

They have a corner now and Ritzmaier's delivery is headed behind by Partey. A second corner is punched away by Leno.

42'

Aside from all the bookings, Vienna have looked a solid side in the last five minutes, and are growing in confidence the longer they stay in this game.

They look dangerous on the counter and a few last-minute clearances by Elneny, Luiz and Partey have spared their blushes so far.

  • Eddie Nketiah
Yellow cardEddie NketiahArsenalAnother yellow! Partey finds Lacazette up top but the Frenchman is way offside. Nketiah kicks the ball into the net anyway and picks up a booking for it. Big cheers from the crowd. This ref is clearly happy to dish out yellows so the Gunners need to be more careful.

  • Thomas Partey
Yellow cardThomas ParteyArsenalPartey picks up a yellow on his full Arsenal debut. An hour to play on a booking, the way he plays, could be a struggle. He's too strong the Rapid Vienna midfield and his high arms are a bit much for the ref. Partey shakes his head.

Partey picks up a yellow on his full Arsenal debut.

An hour to play on a booking, the way he plays, could be a struggle.

He's too strong the Rapid Vienna midfield and his high arms are a bit much for the ref. Partey shakes his head.

33'

Lacazette wins a free-kick about 30 yards out. His screams of pain are pretty audible despite the fans in the ground.

Pepe can't beat the first defender. Poor.

31'

Pepe makes a promising run but his end product is miles over.

Still, some good feet going one v one with the defence. Brave play.

  • Alexandre Lacazette
Yellow cardAlexandre LacazetteArsenalLacazette picks up a booking now! It's a foul and not a booking, but his protests earn him a yellow.
27'

Lacazette picks up a booking now! It's a foul and not a booking, but his protests earn him a yellow.

26'

Rapid Vienna are heading away literally everything Arsenal can throw at them. The Gunners need more bodies in the box because it isn't enough right now.

Cedric is swinging in great balls.

24'

Partey with another cutting ball through midfield but Saka is offside.

Not much has happened so far, but Arsenal are on top all the same.

21'

Leno is called into action as Ritzmaier's cross needs claiming.

The hosts are going to have a go on the counter.

19'

Arsenal waste a few corners to the glee of the 3000 supporters inside the stadium.

But Arsenal get up and go again. They're just waiting patiently for that final ball but Rapid Vienna - to their credit - have stopped them creating anything of note so far.

  • Srdjan Grahovac
Yellow cardSrdjan GrahovacRapid WienRitzmaier - a deadline-day loan from Barnsley no less - has had a few touches down the left when Rapid Vienna do come forward. Up the other end Arsenal are 3v3 and Pepe is on the ball, but Grahovac brings him down and picks up the world's most obvious booking. CLOSE! From the free-kick Luiz has a free header but Strebinger makes a good save.

CLOSE!

From the free-kick Luiz has a free header but Strebinger makes a good save.

14'

Nketiah again shows nimble footwork on the left and picks out Partey in the middle.

The midfielder has plenty of space to pick a pass and looks for Pepe down the right but he's crowded out well.

Rapid Vienna are keeping their shape well and refuse to be overwhelmed by these Arsenal attackers.

10'

Nketiah and Saka link up down the right for Arsenal's best moment of the match so far.

If anything Saka is too quick for his own feet and he overruns it. But what an electric pairing they look on the wings. Rapid.

9'

Partey looking sharp in midfield. He receives from the back, turns and gets his head up right away for the ball forward.

None of that sideways nonsense.

8'

Cedric gives away a foul as Greek international Fountas gets the better of him.

He's their main man up top and certainly looks a handful.

He's already megged Luiz.

5'

Okay I spoke to soon.

Rapid Vienna are getting the ball into wide areas and Arase puts a dangerous ball in. The Gunners do well to clear their lines though and they head back up the other end.

3'

Arsenal playing a 3-4-3 for anyone who wasn't sure.

They've gone for the ever-fashionable lump-it-forward from kick-off strategy and are on the front foot straight away.

You get the impression this going to be a pretty one-sided affair.

HERE WE GO

We actually have fans in the stadium. Not many, but fans all the same!

18:53

MUSIC TIME

The Europa League theme is actually a banger. Doesn't get enough attention in my opinion.

18:50

OZIL WATCHING ON

Despite the snub, Ozil watches on and predicted a 4-1 Gunners win.

So much for a clean sheet then.

18:47

HYPE

We're minutes away...

18:42

LAST SEASON

Last season, Arsenal topped their Europa League group before they were unceremoniously knocked out by Olympiakos in the roun of 32.

The season before, of course, they were runners up to London rivals Chelsea.

They've not quite managed to get their hands on the Europa League trophy despite becoming a mainstay in the competition in recent years.

Remember, A Europa League win would offer the Gunners a path back in the Champions League...

The stakes are real!

18:36

STAT

I wasn't even born then.

18:31

OZIL OUT

Of course, one player sitting out tonight will be Arsenal's highest earner, Mesut Ozil.

The German international has been omitted from both Arsenal's Europa League and Premier League squad.

On the one hand, no awkward trips to Austria on a Thursday night, on the other, no football until January at least...

18:25

ARSENAL CHANGES

Bukayo Saka also starts tonight alongside Lacazette and Nketiah up top.

Kolasinac, Cedric and Elneny also make rare starts.

18:19

THOMAS 'STARTEY'

Just thought I'd go with something different to the usual party puns,
