It's not a penalty and VAR agrees. Moreno's shot hit the floor and then Fred's hand at clsoe quarters.
Meanwhile, there's a VAR check for a penalty after a shot in that period of play hit Fred's hand at close range.
McTominay goes down off the ball as Villarreal attack. It eventually comes to nothing after a poor clearance from Lindelof put the Red Devils under pressure.
Rashford goes down after a strange tussle with Albiol. He jumps over the keeper as he gathers but then needs treatment. Is that a concern for England?
Villarreal load the United area to attack a deep free kick from the right, but the delivery is high, slow-paced and far too close to de Gea.

The two managers have cut contrasting figures. Emery is a bundle of energy with lots of gesturing and snarls. Meanwhile, Solskjaer has been quite pensive.

UNITED CHANGE: Fred on for Greenwood.
CLOSE! Alberto Moreno can't find the finish after finding himself with a sight of De Gea's goal.
Having made plenty of changes, it's perhaps no surprise that Villarreal are enjoying one of their best spells of the match. Surely OGS will turn to the bench at some point, won't he?

CLOSE! Pau Torres makes an important block after Shaw's shot was met by the head of Cavani.
What a miss! Rashford rolls the ball wide from close range with just the keeper to beat after being fed from the right by Fernandes. The Portuguese star was probably offside, but Rashford needed to make sure of the finish - and didn't.
Shaw whips another left-wing free kick into the mix but this time Villarreal stand firm and clear their lines.
United are playing with much more purpose and pace now. It's fed across the edge of the area to McTominay who sees a shot on the stretch well blocked.
VIDEO: Cavani drags United level
- OffCarlos BaccaVillarreal CF
- OnFrancis CoquelinVillarreal CF
VILLARREAL CHANGE: Coquelin on for Bacca.
A VAR check as to whether he was offside took an eternity there - but the good news for United and their fans is that the goal is given!
- GoalEdinson CavaniManchester United
GOAL! Cavani levels! The Uruguayan scrambles home the ricochet after Pogba's shot from outside the box fell his way.
Villarreal fail to deal with a left-wing free kick. McTominay refuses to allow them to clear and twists and turns before seeing a shot deflect over the top.
- Yellow cardÉtienne CapoueVillarreal CF
Greenwood appears to be caught as he chases a ball into the right side of the box. VAR is checking.... but no spot kick is given.
Nervy moments at the back for United! Moreno can't find the finish as he tries to attack a ball from the left byline, but the Red Devils can't seem to clear it. After an age it's smuggled away from the six-yard line, but it could have gone anywhere. Let off for OGS and his men.
Agree with this. Both Rashford and Greenwood showed they could do some damage with late first-half runs from the right. United need to increase the tempo.
VIDEO: Bacca brilliance from the first half.
- 2nd Half
KICK OFF! Villarreal get this final back up and running.
- End of 1st Half
HT: Villarreal 1-0 Man United.
Two minutes added.
Greenwood follows Rashford's example and charges down the right. He fizzes a superb ball into the six-yard box that hits Albiol and flies right into the arms of Rulli.
Rashford causes problems on the right but his low ball into the middle is well cut out. United need more of that in the second period.
Villarreal continue to suffocate the space by dropping deep and surrounding the player in possession when United do get it within range of their area.
Fernandes and Co are looking frustrated out there but United have made a habit of second-half comebacks so the belief certainly won't be wavering too much yet.
VIDEO: Moreno makes his mark!
The pattern of play has shifted slightly since that goal. United are still trying to clear their heads after being sucker-punched.
That was Moreno's 30th goal of the season.
- GoalGerard MorenoVillarreal CF
GOAL! Gerard Moreno is allowed to drift free of Lindelof and finish off a free kick from the left by flashing a volley beyond De Gea.
Pino tries to make more of an impression in open play, but drags his long-range effort wide. He gestures in frustration and is clearly not too impressed with his attempt!
United continue to probe with Villarreal dropping deep. Emery's side have looked most dangerous from set pieces so far.
Carlos Bacca spins to the left byline and dinks a lovely rabona into the middle for Pau Torres, but his header flashes off target as he had to adjust to meet it.
Pino is given too much time to take down a headed clearance from a left-wing corner and let fly with a strike that hits a United player and flies wide.
Shaw collects a header clear on the far left edge of the box and drills a venomous cross-shot just wide of target. That was a dangerous moment for the Spanish outfit. No United shirt was in the right place to apply what would have been a simple finish.
Trigueros makes a late dash to the far post to meet a left-wing corner but he's always stretching on the slide and can't direct it on target.
United have been pushing Villarreal back for several minutes but haven't managed to breach the Spanish side's defences yet.
Foyth is back on his feet but is now having a bloody nose treated on the touchline. Meanwhile, the game resumes.
Foyth takes a tumble and bangs his head into Pogba's knee as he falls. Play has been stopped while he receives treatment.
McTominay has the first shot of note but drags his 20-yard effort wide of Gerónimo Rulli's right-hand post.
UEFA STAT: Villarreal and United are meeting for the fifth time, with each of the previous four encounters finishing 0-0 in the Champions League between 2005-06 and 2008-09.
Villarreal are buzzing about and looking to put United under pressure from the off. The Red Devils are trying to get it down and build some possession but the frenetic early pace means it's all a bit scrappy.

KICK OFF! Man Utd get the 2021 Europa League final underway.
OPINION: So, Manchester United are once again in the final of the Europa League - but the club can’t squander the chance to kick on.
Pau Torres: "Luckily the coach has often won this competition. He’ll prepare us well - we’ll be totally confident in his plans. We are facing an important match but the motivation and the hunger we have will quell any nerves any of us might have."
DID YOU KNOW? Solskjaer is contesting only his second final in his managerial career, having won the 2013 Norwegian Cup with Molde.
Unai Emery: "I don’t feel extra motivation after having worked at Arsenal. I feel a duty to the club president and everyone who’s built this small community into a great club. I have no thoughts of revenge against an English club or anyone else: all I do is to try and bring the best that Villarreal can achieve. It’s a great club."
Manu Trigueros: “An open, end-to-end game would be one where we have more to lose than United. We have to be organised, keep the ball, do damage to United in the way the coach has asked us to. We need to be intelligent and not get involved in a really uncontrolled match."
Bruno Fernandes on Eric Cantona comparisons: "For me personally, of course it is an honour to be compared with him but I just try to be myself. It is really good to be compared with him but when you are compared with this kind of big player it is, for me, a good pressure. It means I need to be better every day. To be compared with him makes me work harder to be better and to keep, in the mind of the people, to compare me with him. I don't want to be compared but at the same time, I have to do better and better to keep people saying and doing the right things.”
Want the lowdown on Villarreal? Eurosport Spain’s David Orenes gave us some insight into their side and why they will feel they can triumph tonight.
OPINION: Manchester United will struggle without Maguire in their xi when they face Villarreal - and there is no easy solution. Do you agree?
Villarreal make one change from the weekend defeat to Real Madrid. Tottenham's on-loan defender Juan Foyth comes in.
As expected, Harry Maguire isn't deemed fit to start. He's on the bench and it would seem unlikely he will feature. That means Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof are at the heart of the defence. David de Gea gets the nod between the sticks while Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba are back in the side after being rested at Wolves. Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood form the attack with Marcus Rashford.
CONFIRMED STARTING XIs – MAN UTD: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Lindelof, Shaw, McTominay, Pogba, Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford, Cavani. /// VILLARREAL: Rulli, Foyth, Albiol, Pau Torres, Pedraza, Parejo, Capoue, Trigueros, Moreno, Bacca, Pino.
