Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 West Ham United as it happened: 10-man Hammers crash out of Europa League semi-final

West Ham are two wins away from securing Champions League football next season and, more importantly, a first European trophy in 57 years.

West Ham have never managed to win in Germany in three European competition matches, losing 2-1 at Frankfurt in the 1976/77 European Cup winners' Cup.

The atmosphere is building inside the stadium, which will be packed to its 51,000 capacity.

However, Frankfurt have won only five out of 21 home games this season and that must give West Ham cause for hope.

Evan Ndicka returns from suspension to take the place Almamy Toure, and Jens Petter Hauge replaces the injured Jesper Lindstrom.

The German side have never been eliminated from a major European competition after winning the first leg away from home.

Losing the first leg 2-1 means West Ham must score at least once tonight to have any chance of securing a place in a European final for the first time in 46 years.

They will take heart from the fact they hit the woodwork three times but they need to more ruthless if they're to advance to the showpiece occasion in Seville on May 18.

Alphonse Areola comes in for Lukasz Fabianski between the sticks, while Craig Dawson returns from suspension to partner Kurt Zouma at the heart of defence.

Michail Antonio and Tomas Soucek were rested for the defeat to Arsenal but the pair, as expected, return tonight.

"I'm thrilled to be taking the team here and it wasn't long ago we were fighting relegation - it's been a big climb and there's no reason why it shouldn't continue," said the West Ham boss in his pre-match press conference.

"We need a whole team performance. The biggest thing for me is we get to the final."
