The 17-year-old, who plays for Milan's Under-19 side, will link up with his new team-mates for the match against the Netherlands on March 22.
And a few people were getting excited at the thought of him pulling on the Azzurri blue:
It even fuelled talk of a possible match-up with Ruud Gullit’s son – although it was not immediately clear whether he was selected for the Dutch.
Unlike his father and grandfather – the late Milan icon, Cesare – Daniel plays as a striker, ditching the family tradition of playing in defence.
But if it doesn’t work out for him in attack, he can always drop back on the pitch. Here's a throwback to FIVE-YEAR-OLD Daniel tackling Dutch legend Clarence Seedorf...
His brother Christian, 22, is also a professional footballer for Serie C side Fano.
