Netherlands' Sneijder announces retirement
Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder has announced his retirement from football after a distinguished career including spells at Ajax, Real Madrid and Galatasaray.
The 35-year-old has most recently been in Qatar, playing for Al-Gharafa.
But his deal there ended last month, and Sneijder now intends to return to the Netherlands - where he has struck a business deal with Utrecht.
Sneijder was part of the dominant Inter team of 2008, which won the Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia - and in that year he also picked up a World Cup runners-up medal along with the Silver Ball in South Africa.
