UEFA to discuss shock Champions League changes

One of the reports doing the rounds on Sunday is that UEFA are set to have a meeting to discuss potential changes to the Champions League. A form of promotion/relegation could be introduced as well as potentially moving matches to weekends.
Paper Round's view: Can you hear that? It smells like European Super League. It has always felt inevitable but now more than ever you can feel Europe’s elite pushing towards something like it. This step for the Champions League would just be the beginning…

Klopp wants to stay at Liverpool despite Bayern interest

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted he is flattered by interest from Bayern Munich but has insisted he is happy at Anfield. After the Reds knocked Bayern out of the Champions League Franz Beckenbauer hailed Klopp as a potential future boss in Munich. However, Klopp insisted he feels very comfortable with Liverpool.
Paper Round's view: Right now Klopp is right to stay with Liverpool. They have an incredible chance to create history in the next couple of seasons, both at home and in Europe. However, in a couple of years Bayern could be in an amazing position with the young core they are starting to put together. At some stage it might make sense for Klopp to return to Germany...

Matic maintains Solskjaer should still get job

We now have quotes from Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic who has maintained that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should still get the permanent job as manager. United have lost back-to-back games after losing to Arsenal in the Premier League, before being dumped out of the FA Cup by Wolves on Saturday, but Matic still has no doubt that Solskjaer is the right man to take the job on a full-time basis.
Paper Round's view: Matic is absolutely correct here. United were always going to have a dip, they were never going to win more or less every game under Solskjaer. Just as United fans shouldn’t have got too carried away with their remarkable winning run under the Norwegian there is no reason for them to panic after a couple of defeats. They are still going in the right direction.

Birmingham braced for 12-point deduction

We end with an exclusive from The Mail that says Birmingham City are bracing themselves for a 12-point deduction. Nothing has been confirmed yet but the report says it is expected that the club will be punished heavily for Financial Fair Play breaches. A 12-point deduction will put the club right in the relegation battle.
Paper Round's view: This could be a hammer blow to the future of Birmingham. The club’s financial state is already precarious and the club have been in turbulent waters for some time now. It would be hard to imagine them coming back from a relegation.
