International Champions Cup, Bank of America Stadium - Liverpool 1 (Van Dijk 25') Borussia Dortmund 3 (Pulisic 66' (p), 89', Bruun Larsen 90')

The excellent Christian Pulisic scored twice as Borussia Dortmund came from a goal down to beat Liverpool in the International Champions Cup in North Carolina on Sunday.

Virgil van Dijk had given the Reds a first-half lead with a powerful header from a corner.

Liverpool, without their World Cup stars, spurned several opportunities to double their advantage and they were left to rue those missed chances.

Pulisic, who has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in recent days, brought Dortmund level from the penalty spot in the second-half.

And he gave his team the lead when he smartly finished off a late counter-attack with Jacob Bruun Larsen tucking home to make it three.

Despite the loss Jurgen Klopp will have been impressed by his new signings Fabinho and Naby Keita in midfield, while Daniel Sturridge produced another energetic performance.

It was another match to forget for Loris Karius though, as the German looked nervy throughout and was at fault for Dortmund's third.

Liverpool continue their pre-season tour of the US with a match with Manchester City on Thursday morning.

Wonderkid Christian Pulisic stars in his home country. The 19-year-old has been touted with a move away from Dortmund recently, with Jurgen Klopp a huge admirer of the American star. Indeed, the Liverpool boss couldn't hide his respect for Pulisic in the pre-match press conference, and he certainly won't have been surprised by this inspirational performance. This is a player with the world at his feet; is Anfield the place to unearth his superstar potential?

Christian Pulisic. It's a no-contest, really. The youngster received a warm reception by the 75,000 supporters when he was introduced at half-time, and it didn't take long for him to make an impact as he won a penalty which he coolly converted. With lightning pace, a bagful of tricks and energy to burn, he also scored a second and created a third in a transformative display.

25' - GOAL! Liverpool 1-0 Dortmund: Dortmund switch off defensively as Liverpool work the corner short to Robertson. He has time to pick out van Dijk who is left unmarked to power a bullet header past Hitz.

60' - CLOSE! Another short corner catches Dortmund off-guard! Milner is allowed space to cross but this time Solanke heads wide from point-blank range.

63' - CROSSBAR! How did that not go in? A strong tackle from Woodburn in midfield prompts another Liverpool attack. Sturridge takes over, threading a lovely through-pass to Ojo whose shot is deflected onto the crossbar by the feet of Burki.

65' - PENALTY TO DORTMUND! Pulisic runs into Klavan inside the box... the referee says penalty! Looks soft.

66' - GOAL! Liverpool 1-1 Dortmund: A clever, cool and confident spot-kick from Pulisic as he chips it down the middle. That won't do the young American's reputation any harm.

89' - GOAL! Liverpool 1-2 Dortmund: Dortmund break down the left through Schmelzer who cuts it back for Pulisic and the young American guides it into the bottom left corner, leaving the goalkeeper helpless.
