85'

SAVE!

And it was nearly a goal for Thauvin. The ball comes in from Matuidi and Thauvin connects sweetly with it. However Sirigu is equal to it and tips it wide.

Good reception for Mbappe and now Thauvin is back in a France shirt.

81'

Mbappe has the ball in the net but he is some way offside.

78'

And another change for Italy as Bonaventura is on for a run-around.

77'

This game is certainly petering out, there are plenty of subs.

Giroud and Matuidi are on for France whilst Balotelli should be okay to run off a twinge.

74'

Couple of changes for Italy as Insigne and Florenzi both come in but France are cruising now.

70'

And Dembele now comes off to a terrific ovation.

Lemar is his replacement.

67'

Chance for Italy as a wonderful ball is swung in from the right. Balotelli gets free and heads the ball over.

65'

Change for Italy as Cristante replaces Pellegrini.

  • Ousmane Dembélé

The ball bounces out to Dembele on the left of the box and he doesn't take a touch, curling a beautiful first-time finish into the corner.

Here is the first of those subs and it's always great to see Benjamin Mendy in a France shirt, Hernandez is off.

60'

I know what happened last time I said it but it does feel now as if the game has slowed a little and it's probably going to slow even more as some subs are being prepared.

57'

Griezmann once again does excellently down the left but his final ball just isn't good enough to let France get the shot away. Mbappe tries to conjure something up and although he feels he should have had a penalty Mr Taylor is not convinced.

They are creating a lot though.

56'

Chances at both ends but an Italy free-kick comes to nothing and France have a chance called back for offside.

54'

Another great chance for France on the break but the final ball is just lacking.

Terrific work from Griezmann in the build-up.

52'

CHANCES!

What was that I was saying? Absolute chaos at the back for Italy as Sirigu tries to come out to meet Mbappe but gets rounded. Mbappe plays it back into the box but it is cleared however then it goes to Pogba. He slips out to Tolisso who sends his shot narrowly wide.

51'

The last couple of minutes have been comparatively quiet as the two teams catch their breath.

49'

And from the corner there's another chance but it's sent over the bar.

This has been some start to the second half.

48'

Now down the other end Chiesa finds space and forces a good save out of Lloris.

47'

BAR!

Good lord Dembele is quick. He just burns Jorginho and Chiesa for pace and then chops back onto his right. His shot rattles the bar.

46'

And we're back under way!

No changes I can immediately see and Balotelli has a chance to equalise.

45+2'

And that's half-time. France have had the better of this thoroughly enjoyable opening 45 minutes but Italy are still in it thanks to Bonucci's goal.

45'

Glorious play from Pogba as he skips away from a couple of Italian players and fires a ball into the path of Hernandez who in turn does excellently to keep it in play and win a corner.

Unfortunately France then waste that corner.

43'

The free-kick doesn't really come to anything and Italy are able to regroup.

We have our first yellow card of the evening and it goes to Pellegrini.;

He's in Mr Taylor's book for a late tackle on Dembele that stops him in his quest to goal.

41'

Chance for France as Pogba plays in Mbappe and he cuts it back where Dembele is waiting.

De Sciglio does really well to come across and clear in the nick of time.

38'

Question marks over Lloris there but Italy thoroughly deserved that given that it could have been a penalty for the foul on Balotelli.

This has become very interesting now...

  • Leonardo Bonucci
GoalLeonardo BonucciItalyGOAL! FRANCE 2-1 ITALY (BONUCCI) It is a free-kick from Balotelli and Lloris cannot hold it. Bonucci is there to pounce and all of a sudden Italy are back in it.

GOAL! FRANCE 2-1 ITALY (BONUCCI)

It is a free-kick from Balotelli and Lloris cannot hold it. Bonucci is there to pounce and all of a sudden Italy are back in it.

35'

That's a pretty good representation of Pavard's face!

34'

Lovely moment as Chiesa is trying to break and he gets taken out by Pavard.

Chiesa is clearly not amused and gives Pavard a bit of an earful. Pavard listens intently but I'm not 100% sure he understood.

Now Balotelli wins a free-kick right on the edge of the box.

Italy aren't happy as they feel it should have been a penalty.

31'

Some debate over whether or not that was a penalty but frankly it's been coming.

Italy look totally shell-shocked and France are enjoying themselves.

  • Antoine Griezmann
Goal by penaltyAntoine GriezmannFranceGOAL! FRANCE 2-0 ITALY (GRIEZMANN) No drama for Griezmann as he slots it into the bottom corner and breaks his scoring drought for his country.

GOAL! FRANCE 2-0 ITALY (GRIEZMANN)

No drama for Griezmann as he slots it into the bottom corner and breaks his scoring drought for his country.

28'

PENALTY TO FRANCE!

Hernandez bursts into the box and goes down under pressure from Mandragora.

VAR are just confirming this one...

26'

CLOSE!

Mbappe drifts into the middle and picks up the ball just outside the area. Rather than drill it like Kante he elects to curl it and it's only narrowly wide.

25'

This game is still being played at a really good tempo but France are looking the more likely to score.

23'

One of the notable things about that Mbappe chance is that was not the first time that the front three have shown fluidity with their movement. That's been a very impressive aspect of their play so far.

21'

CHANCE!

Great work from Griezmann as he gets free and then plays in Mbappe. The forward does well to work space but he shoots rather than passes and it is saved by Sirigu and then cleared off the line.

20'

POST!

It's not often we see N'Golo Kante do that for Chelsea. The ball is worked to the midfield on the edge of the area, he takes a touch to get it out of his feet and he fires a low shot towards goal. It beats Sirigu but not the post, good effort.

18'

Decent spell of possession for Italy on the edge of the France area but it comes to nothing.

16'

Balotelli breaks but rather than slip in one of his wide players he goes for it from distance with the outside of his boot and it goes over.

15'

Balotelli's free-kick is firmly struck but it crashes off the wall.

14'

Caldara picks up a loose ball but in a 50-50 challenge with Kante he comes off considerably worse.

This is a dangerous position...

13'

Chiesa breaks away and wins a free-kick but it goes shot. He sends in another cross but it is easily cleared.

12'

More good pressing from France forces Italy into giving away a corner. France take it short but they are pushed back.

10'

Right Italy haven't really created much so far so it's hard to see how they're going to get back into this immediately.

Cracking start from the hosts though.

  • Samuel Umtiti
GoalSamuel UmtitiFranceGOAL! FRANCE 1-0 ITALY (UMTITI) Griezmann's delivery is good but Balotelli does well to head it away. However it is worked out to Pavard on the right and he sends a brilliant cross to the back post. Mbappe's shot is saved by Sirigu but Umtiti is on hand to turn it in.

GOAL! FRANCE 1-0 ITALY (UMTITI)

Griezmann's delivery is good but Balotelli does well to head it away. However it is worked out to Pavard on the right and he sends a brilliant cross to the back post. Mbappe's shot is saved by Sirigu but Umtiti is on hand to turn it in.

7'

Mbappe picks up the ball on France's left and just accelerates away. He's eventually brought now but it's going to be a free-kick which Griezmann will swing in.

6'

Free-kick to Italy out on the left however the delivery from Chiesa is poor as he tries to send it to the near post.

4'

Another good move for France as Dembele is nearly played in but Sirigu does well to get off his line quickly and smother the ball.

3'

France have started this at a good tempo even if their pressing has already led to them giving away a couple of early fouls.

1'

And we are underway after a rather interesting ceremonial kick-off involving a remote control car.

France are in white and Italy are in blue.

The man in the middle is Anthony Taylor.

Positive starts from the hosts as they combine Pavard and Mbappe down the right but the final ball goes out of play.

Right there's just five minutes to go so let's have your predictions!

GETTING READY

They always say you should try and prepare for the World Cup by playing countries from the same continent as those in your group.

Well to prepare for Peru, Australia and Denmark France's three friendlies will be against the Republic of Ireland, Italy and the US.

Does that make sense? Or when you've got France's squad does it not matter?

La photo officielle de l'équipe de France

Having watched Italy over the past few years it's very interesting to see them go with a back four tonight in a 4-3-3 that matches France.

When you look at some of the players that Italy have coming through you feel this would make sense as their line-up looking towards Euro 2020.

STAT ATTACK

Leading the line for France will be Griezmann and with the World Cup less than a fortnight (or is that Fortnite?) he will be eager to end this record.

STAT ATTACK

A remarkable record one Mario Balotelli...

FORM GUIDE

France have lost just one of their last seven matches (3-2 at home to Colombia in March) with five defeats and a draw which includes a 3-1 win over World Cup hosts Russia.

For Italy it's just two wins in their last seven coming against Albania and Saudi Arabia.

Of course that isn't the fault of Mancini but it shows that there is work to be done.

As for Italy it's just another game in the Roberto Mancini era.

Unsurprisingly he is very much looking to the future with some his selections and Federico Chiesa of Fiorentina, linked to the Premier League, is one to keep an eye on.

So what is at stake tonight?

Let's start with France. They are one of the favourites for the World Cup and obviously every game before the tournament starts will be crucial for Didier Deschamps.

It's the third game in a row he has gone with this 4-3-3 formation so we can assume that he will be going with one up front and three in midfield rather than playing Griezmann off Olivier Giroud.

Le PSG n'a pas la même chance que Deschamps

ITALY TEAM NEWS

Sirigu, D'Ambrosio, Bonucci, Caldara, De Sciglio, Pellegrini, Jorginho, Mandragora, Berardi, Balotelli, Chiesa

Another start for Mario Balotelli up front and were it not for Bonucci starting he would have been captain.

FRANCE TEAM NEWS

Lloris, Pavard, Rami, Umtiti, Hernandez, Tolisso, Kante, Pogba, Mbappe, Griezmann, Dembele

There's only one word for that France team and that is PHWOAR!

Adil Rami at centre-back isn't exactly ideal but that front six is simply sensational.
