Janoi Donacien makes loan switch to Newport

Newport have signed Janoi Donacien on loan from Aston Villa.

Donacien arrives at Rodney Parade on an initial one-month loan and, subject to obtaining international clearance, could make his debut on Saturday against Carlisle.

The St Lucia-born defender, 21, recently returned from a loan spell at fellow Sky Bet League Two side Wycombe, where he made two appearances.

He is yet to play for parent club Aston Villa, although he has made the bench on two occasions, but his best stint as a professional came during two loan spells at Tranmere in 2014/15 where he made 37 appearances.

His deal will expire on October 24, after County's game with Bristol Rovers.

Donacien is Terry Butcher's second loan signing of the day after striker Tyler Blackwood joined on a month's loan from QPR.
