Atlético went ahead in the 47th minute, Diego Costa planting his header into the bottom right corner after intercepting a pass from Celta's Natxo Insa.
Juanfran doubled his side’s lead with a right footed shot in the 66th minute before Augusto Fernández gave Celta hope with a goal in the 84th minute.
But it was almost inevitable that Falcao would have some sort of influence and two minutes later he put the game to bed, scoring with his right foot to ensure his side will participate in next season’s Champions League.
In contrast, Celta are fighting for survival and remain two points adrift of safety with eight wins, 20 losses and seven draws.
