The ex-Tottenham and Aston Villa manager has taken over as League One side Swindon Town’s director of football.
Swindon are in the relegation zone having won just one game in seven matches, meaning the move will inevitably spark reports of Sherwood replacing manager Luke Williams.
Sherwood had been linked with the manager's job at QPR but has instead moved to the County Ground and was presented to the media on Thursday afternoon.
The 47-year-old played with Robins chairman Lee Power at Norwich and had previously helped send players to the County Ground on loan while at Tottenham.
