Defender Prosser missed Tuesday`s 3-0 victory at Barnet on medical advice following concussion but should be back in the frame this weekend.
Sturrock made five changes to his side at Underhill as the Shrimpers played their second game in four days and he is again expected to rotate his ranks as they prepare for a third match in a week.
On-loan goalkeeper Luke Daniels stepped in for his debut to replace Glenn Morris, who remains sidelined for around another two to three weeks with his thigh tear.
Elsewhere, Chris Barker replaced Prosser, while Ryan Leonard, Anthony Grant and Bilel Mohsni came in for Kane Ferdinand, Jean-Paul Kalala and Neil Harris, who each dropped to the bench.
Fit-again midfielder Lee Sawyer continues to push for inclusion having overcome his thigh injury but striker Barry Corr (knee) is making slow progress with his rehabilitation.
Macclesfield will be without suspended midfielder Ross Draper. Draper picked up his fifth yellow card of the season on Tuesday night as the Silkmen extended their unbeaten run to four games, of which they have won three, by beating Bradford 1-0.
Defender Paul Morgan (broken arm) is still missing, although he looks set to return to training next week.
Striker Waide Fairhurst (ankle) is also nearing a return and is set to step up his recovering in a couple of weeks.
Goalkeeper Jack Cudworth is still some way from coming back after an operation on his ankle.
Ben Tomlinson missed the Bantams encounter due to a knock sustained against Crewe last Saturday and is sidelined once more.
