Liam Rosenior announces retirement

Liam Rosenior has retired from professional football at the age of 34.

The full-back, who had notable promotion-winning spells with the likes of Hull and Brighton in a 16-year professional career, made close to 450 senior appearances.

Rosenior will now join Brighton’s coaching staff as well as working as a television pundit.

“To the managers, coaches, players, backroom staff and supporters of every club I have had the good fortune to represent, I sincerely thank you for the lessons, happiness, memories and incredible support I have received in my career,” Rosenior wrote on Twitter.

Rosenior started his career at Bristol City, for whom father Leroy also played, before spells with Fulham, Torquay, Reading and Ipswich.

His most successful spell came at Hull, where he made over 160 appearances as the Tigers won promotion to the Premier League, made the FA Cup final and played in Europe.

He then joined Brighton, where he saw out his career with another promotion.
