The club’s official website reports Ryan’s arrival but doesn’t reveal the transfer fee, although reports from Belgium have suggested the cost is around €7m.
Ryan, who holds a UK passport, joins after two years in Belgium, having previously played for Central Coast Mariners.
He is the first-choice goalkeeper for the Australian national side after making his debut in 2012.
Valencia had been searching for a goalkeeper after Diego Alves suffered a serious knee injury at the end of the 2014-15 season.
“I’m very happy to come to a big club like Valencia. I know it’s a very important institution in world football and this move is a big step in my career,” Ryan is quoted as saying.
“Valencia are a side with fantastic players, who had a great campaign and finished fourth in the league. Our main objective now is Champions League qualification.”
