The club’s all-time record goalscorer will be out of contract at the end of next season and, according to reports, has turned down an offer of up to €35 million per year.
An agreement is expected, and with Messi recently passing 500 goals for Barcelona the club can be confident he will dramatically increase his tally into next season and beyond.
But Neymar wants there to be no doubt that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will remain at Camp Nou.
“I've been here for almost four years and I've learnt a lot from him,” he told Sky Sports. “I've learnt everything, how to shoot, how to attentive on the pitch and how to move the ball.
“I hope he renews his contract and I hope the people at Barcelona start working so Leo stays with us.”
Neymar’s own future has been the subject of speculation with rumours that Manchester United are ready to pay his £173m release clause this summer.
But the Brazil international has no intention of leaving.
"I want to be here and that's why I renewed my contract," he added. "I'm very happy with everything I have done here for the club, happy with my team-mates and I feel at home."
