That was much better from the champions. They took their foot off the pedal in the second half, but Zidane will be encouraged by how many chances his side created in front of goal. They looked dangerous every time they came forward. They could have easily scored more than just three.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Real Madrid 3-0 Eibar
INUI TAKES AIM! Eibar come flying forward on the counter attack, with Inui shooting from the edge of the box, but Casilla was on hand to make the diving save at his near post.
Just two minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
RONALDO THWARTED AGAIN! This time the Portuguese takes aim from a tight angle down the right channel, but once against Dmitrovic is on hand to prevent him from finding the net.
It's also been a below par night for Ronaldo. The Real Madrid number seven simply hasn't seen much of the ball. He's played on the peripheries of the contest. Strange display.
The pass played through to Marcelo was actually by Benzema. So while he hasn't had the best evening in front of goal since coming on, he helped create a goal. Positive signs.
- GoalMarceloReal Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 3 (82 mins - Marcelo) Eibar 0. And that shoudl be that! Theo breaks down the left side and slots through Marcelo, who turns and finds the far corner of the net with a slow strike. Excellent move and finish from the Brazilian left back.
The away side are committing a number of players forward, but that means there is space for Real Madrid to expose at the back on the counter attack. A dangerous game to play.
- OffGonzalo EscalanteSD Eibar
- OnSergi EnrichSD Eibar
Eibar now have THREE strikers on the pitch. They are really pressing to get back in this match.
RONALDO INTO THE SIDE NETTING! First of all, Marcelo dribbles through about three Eibar defenders but has to turn back and cross to Ronaldo, who half-volleys into the side netting.
Ramos feigns to shoot before attempting to slot through a clever pass to Ronaldo, but the Eibar defence spots the intention early and they make the interception. Nice idea.
This Real Madrid performance has fallen a bit flat in the second half, which will be a disappointment for Zidane. This was a chance for the champions to put down a marker in La Liga.
A third goal would really kill off this game and there is a tension inside the Bernabeu as the away side look to drag themselves back into the contest. They are attacking.
BENZEMA SHOT IS BLOCKED! The French striker takes aim from just inside the penalty area, but an Eibar defender throws himself in front of the effort to make sure it stays 2-0.
- OffAnder CapaSD Eibar
- OnRubén PeñaSD Eibar
And a change for Eibar sees Pena come on for the final 15 minutes.
Interesting that Zidane has decided to look for more pace in the wide areas. To me, it looks like he's trying to expose the space left behind an Eibar team looking to press higher.
- OffIscoReal Madrid
- OnLucas VázquezReal Madrid
And another change for the champions sees Vazquez come on.
- OffDani CeballosReal Madrid
- OnMarceloReal Madrid
Ceballos comes off for Real Madrid and he will be replaced by Marcelo. That's an interesting move from Zidane. Is he going to play on the left side of midfield?
Eibar are certainly seeing more of the ball now. They need a goal soon if they are to stand any chance of mounting a comeback and claiming something to take home from the Bernabeu.
Eibar are renowned as one of the fittest teams in the Spanish league. I wonder if that might be a factor in the final 20 minutes, especially with Real Madrid playing in the Champions League on Tuesday.
RONALDO IS DENIED! Modric's through pass releases Ronaldo on goal, but he goes too close to Dmitrovic, who smothers the shot. Benzema then picks up the rebound and blasts well over!
NUTMEG! That was wonderful from Modric, who knocked the ball through the legs of an opponent before taking aim from 25 yards, but he drags his effort well wide of the near post.
Interesting reception for Benzema, there. He has been in poor form of late and there were a few whistles from some of the home fans as he was introduced off the bench. Under pressure.
- OffMarco AsensioReal Madrid
- OnKarim BenzemaReal Madrid
And there's a change for the hosts, with Asensio coming off to be replaced by Benzema.
- OffCharlesSD Eibar
- OnKike GarcíaSD Eibar
There's the first change of the night for Eibar and Garcia comes on for the away side.
Theo wasn't quite sure about what was around him. The cross was played to the back post, and he could have left it to go for a goal kick, but he sticks out himself with a header.
What a ball that was from Modric. The Croatian picked up the ball in a deep position and somehow managed to spot the run of Asensio in behind the Eibar defensive line. Astonishing vision.
NO TAKERS! Theo got the byline and cut back a cross to the penalty spot. There was nobody in a white shirt to make the most of the good ball into the box. Where was Ronaldo?
Considering how the rest of the team are playing rather well, it's been a tough evening so far for Ronaldo. It's just not happening for the Real Madrid number seven. Toiling to make an impression.
This has been a slow start to the second half by Real Madrid, but it was the same at the start of the first half and they really came on to a performance. They remain in control, though.
PENALTY CLAIM! Inui goes down inside the Real Madrid penalty area under the challenge of Casemiro. The Eibar player could have stayed on his feet and got a shot away.
It looks like Real Madrid might be about to make their first change of the evening. Zidane has just called a couple of players back to the bench. Substitutes are imminent from the hosts.
Of course, this result (should Real Madrid stay ahead) will see the champions close the gap on Barcelona at the top of the league table. Barca won against Malaga yesterday night.
Eibar have conceded a freekick here and it's in perfect Ronaldo territory, but the Real Madrid number seven blasts it way over the bar. Is it time to accept he isn't very good at these?
GREAT OPENING FOR REAL! Isco was released clean through on goal down the right channel, with the playmaker getting a low shot away on goal, but Dmitrovic makes the save with his leds.
That's a poor delivery from Capa. He had the chance to swing the ball into the Real Madrid penalty area, but he put way too much weight on the cross and it drifts long and out of play.
The first half was probably the best 45 minutes Real Madrid have played at home in La Liga this season. Can they keep up that level in the second half? They'll be going for more, surely.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way at the Bernabeu! Real Madrid have a 2-0 lead over Eibar.

- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Real Madrid 2-0 Eibar. That was much better from the champions. Eibar have had no response to the free-flowing, attacking football played by the likes of Asensio and Isco.
Real Madrid have the ball on the edge of the Eibar penalty area and are looking for the goal that would put this game to bed before the half time whistle. They are looking dangerous.
The thing is, Eibar look like they might carry some threat on the counter attack if they could just make the right decision when they get into the final third. They have pace.
That was a crunching tackle on Theo as he surged down the left wing, but he can have no real complaints about that one. The Eibar player won the ball cleanly. Did look sore, though.
Real Madrid are deploying quite a high press now. They are forcing Eibar off the ball almost as soon as they get it. This is much better from Zidane's side. They look engaged tonight.
ANGEL SHOOTS ON GOAL! The ball falls to the Eibar midfielder about 20 yards out after a counter attack, but he drives the shot across the face of goal and over the crossbar.
This system just isn't working for Eibar. They are playing three centre backs, but none of them seem to know their roles in the team. Benzema and Ronaldo are still finding space.
The rotation of Real Madrid's squad saw the capital club win a league and Champions League double last season. You just wonder if that will give them an advantage once again this season.
Form has been an issue for Real Madrid in the attacking positions in recent weeks, but their key figures are clicking now. Isco and Asensio in particular are linking up well.
Real Madrid are really starting to take a grip of this game in the final third. The pressure is never ending for Eibar. This is the first time Real have played like this at home this season.
That was by no means an easy finish for Asensio, but he made it look very easy. The ball was difficult to control, but he swept it home first time. The goalkeeper wasn't expecting it.
- GoalMarco AsensioReal Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 2 (29 mins - Marco Asensio) Eibar 0. There's the second goal and Real Madrid have given themselves a cushion! Asensio takes the shot on the half-volley first time and finds the net with an exceptional finish. Great goal.
This is better from Real Madrid, as they press and probe for a way through this Eibar defence. They have quickened the tempo and intensity of their play in the past five minutes.
ASENSIO TAKES AIM! The Real Madrid youngster shoots from the edge of the Eibar box, but Dmitrovic makes the stop. Ronaldo isn't pleased that the ball wasn't crossed in to him.
SAVE FROM CASILLA! Just for a moment, it looked like the freekick was going to go straight through the Real Madrid defence and into the net, but Casilla made the save at his near post.
- Yellow cardCharlesSD Eibar
Charles also gets a yellow card for his troubles, although I'm not entirely sure what his troubles are.
- Yellow cardCasemiroReal Madrid
Casemiro gets into an argument with the referee about the award of that foul and is shown a yellow card for dissent.
That's a clear foul from Nacho on Angel. Eibar have the chance to swing the ball into the box from the left wing. That was a needless foul from the Real Madrid defender. It could cost his side.
WASTE BY EIBAR! The away side had an opportunity on the counter attack, but Charles somehow failed to spot the run of Inui and decided to take the shot from distance himself!
- Own-goalPaulo OliveiraSD Eibar
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 1 (19 mins - Paulo OIiveira) Eibar 0. The champions have the lead and they have claimed it through an own goal! The cross was played into the box by Asensio and Oliveira got up to head into his own net. Dmitrovic was left standing. Nothing he could do.
Isco has been the one pulling the strings for Real Madrid in the centre of the field and on the edge of the penalty area. You get the feeling that if the breakthrough is coming, it will come through him.
We haven't seen a lot of Ronaldo in the opening exchanges of this match, but he takes aim from the edge of the box this time and wins a corner kick for his side. It comes to nothing.
Benzema has never been the most popular of players with the Real Madrid support, but they have really turned on the 29-year-old in recent weeks. He has been playing poorly.
Zidane has stuck with Benzema and Ronaldo up front. Both players are struggling to find form, with the French striker in particular toiling over the early part of the season.
This has been a sluggish start to the match by Real Madrid, which has become the norm for the champions so far this season. Zidane won't be pleased by that in the slightest.
There's also a start for Theo at left back this evening. He joined for big money from Atletico Madrid during the summer, but has found first team opportunities hard to come by.
Zidane has rotated his squad again for this game, making five changes to the team that faced Spurs during the week. Kroos has been given a rare rest and watches from the bench.
On the other side of the contest, Eibar come into this game in poor form. They have punched well above their weight in recent years, but this could be a tough season for them.
Indeed, Real Madrid have already dropped points at home to Levante, Valencia and Real Betis at the Bernabeu this season. The champions are struggling to find their groove.
Of course, Real Madrid come into this game on the back of a midweek 1-1 draw at home to Spurs in the Champions League. They are finding things tough at the Bernabeu this season.
INJURY CONCERN? Escalante has picked up a knock here. It was a late challenge from Ceballos on the Eibar man and he is going to need some treatment early on in this game.
Three points is a must tonight for Real Madrid. They must close the gap on Barcelona at the top of La Liga after the Catalans' win over Malaga at the Camp Nou yesterday. Must win.
CHANCE FOR ASENSIO! There was space for the Real Madrid youngster down the left side, but his shot is straight at Dmitrovic and the Eibar goalkeeper can beat the ball away.
