Cristiano Ronaldo's team-mates knew he wanted to leave Real Madrid weeks ago, according to reports in Spain.

An article in Marca said his colleagues at the Bernabeu were already aware of his intentions to leave the club before he announced he was thinking of leaving.
After the Champions League victory over Liverpool in Kiev, Ronaldo told beIN Sports:
'It was very nice to be in Madrid. In the next few days I will give an answer to the fans, who have always been by my side.'

There are suggestions that Ronaldo wants to be paid the same as Barcelona's Lionel Messi, traditionally regarded as his only peer, and that his outburst was an attempt to force a raise. Messi is currently paid £35m a season.
However, Ronaldo has a release clause of £870m, meaning Real's president Florentino Perez is in a position of strength in any negotations.
The club do not believe that any European club could match his demands, as Manchester United do not currently appear as interested as they have in the past, and Paris Saint-Germain have both Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe in attack.
That would leave only a move to MLS or the Chinese Super League as Ronaldo's options.
