Real Madrid's dreadful, dreadful 2018/19 season is finally over. They have suffered their 12th defeat of the Liga season and this was one of their most humiliating losses. Real Betis deserved the three points. They were particularly impressive in the second half. Zidane has a lot of work to do in the summer. How will he possibly turn things around? What a mess.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Real Madrid 0-2 Real Betis
Just three minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
- OffWilliam CarvalhoReal Betis
- OnSidneiReal Betis
Carvalho comes off to be replaced by Sidnei. The Portuguese midfielder has had a good season.
- Yellow cardIscoReal Madrid
Isco was booked a few moments ago as frustration gets the better of the Real Madrid playmaker.
This has been a pretty complete performance from Real Betis in the second half. They have kept the ball well, have moved it around nicely in the final third and have taken their chances.
This game was done as soon as Real Betis scored their first goal. Real Madrid have thrown in the towel and this has become about the protest from the home fans in the stands.
What will the summer hold for Real Madrid? Many expect an overhaul of the squad, but how will they shift all these overpaid, ageing stars? How will they find buyers? What a job on Zidane's hands.
Now Asensio is being whistled and jeered by the home supporters inside the Santiago Bernabeu. What a toxic place Real Madrid is at the moment. Zidane must regret coming back.
As already mentioned, this will be Real Madrid's 12th defeat of the league season. Not of the season as a whole, of the league season. What an awful, awful campaign they have had.
Will Bale leave Real Madrid this summer? This is quite clearly a ploy from the Spanish club to force the Welsh winger out of the club because he still says he wants to stay. Petty.
So Bale won't get a chance to bid farewell to the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid have made all three changes and the Welsh winger is still on the bench. He doesn't look too happy.
- OffKarim BenzemaReal Madrid
- OnLucas VázquezReal Madrid
One last change for Real Madrid and Benzema comes off for Vazquez. The game is already gone, though.
Dreadful, dreadful stuff from Real Madrid. This has to be their worst season in a generation? Real Betis have come to the Bernabeu and played the home side of the pitch, for the most part.
- GoalJeséReal Betis
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 0 Real Betis 2 (76 mins - Jese Rodriguez). What a goal from the away side! Real Betis are toying with Real Madrid here! Firpo is played to the byline and cuts the ball back for Jese who has the simple task of finishing high into the roof the net! The away side deserve their two-goal lead.
- OffLoren MorónReal Betis
- OnTelloReal Betis
Loren's goal is the difference between the two teams, but he is taken off to be replaced by Tello.
If anything, Real Betis look the more likely of the two teams to grab the next goal. Real Madrid are playing with no urgency, no tempo, no intensity. A really poor performance from them.
Still no sign of Bale in what is expected to be his last game as a Real Madrid player. After all he ha achieved here, is Zidane really going to deny him one last appearance?
- OffFederico ValverdeReal Madrid
- OnIscoReal Madrid
Zidane throws on Isco for Valverde who had a pretty quiet game, it must be said.
Big chance for Lo Celso! A wonderful pass from Carvalho splits the Real Madrid defence, but Lo Celso guides his left footed effort wide of the far post. He might have done better with that!
- OffWilfrid KaptoumReal Betis
- OnJeséReal Betis
On comes Jese as he makes his return to the Santiago Bernabeu as a Real Betis player.
Could have been two! Carvalho surged forward from deep with the ball eventually moved to Lo Celso. His strike from 20 yards out was a good one, but Navas makes the diving save.
Vinicius does his best to drive at the Real Betis defence in an attempt to make things happen, but the away side crowd out the Brazilian winger and the ball bounces behind for a goal kick.
This season just can't end quick enough for Real Madrid. They have lost 12 (TWELVE) times in La Liga this season. What a dreadful, dreadful season they have suffered. Terrible.
Zidane still hasn't asked Bale to warm up. Might it be that the Welsh winger doesn't get one final appearance for Real Madrid, a chance to say goodbye to the Santiago Bernabeu?
Finally, a moment of attacking quality in this game and Real Betis have produced it. The cross from Guardado and the pass from Lo Celso was what made the goal for the away side.
- GoalLoren MorónReal Betis
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 0 Real Betis 1 (61 mins - Loren Moron). Real Betis have taken the lead at the Santiago Bernabeu! Marcelo was caught out as Guardado made a run in behind the Real Madrid defence, Lo Celso found him before a cross was sent into Loren. He finished high into the roof of Navas' net!
- OffBrahim DíazReal Madrid
- OnMarco AsensioReal Madrid
It's a first change from Zidane and on comes Asensio to replace Brahim.
I think that was the correct decision from Undiano, who is refereeing his last La Liga game this afternoon. Varane looked to be in line from Carvajal when the tackle was made.
- Yellow cardDani CarvajalReal Madrid
Was that a red card? Carvajal brings down Firpo, but the Real Betis players are arguing that the Real Madrid full back was the last man and that he should have been sent off. Hmmmm....
This has turned into quite a poor game. There is no shape to either team and there has been a real lack of quality in the final third of the pitch. It feels like an end of season affair.
That's twice in the early stages of this second half that Benzema has been found with space inside the Real Betis penalty box and that's twice he has been too indecisive.
Benzema took too long! Brahim found the French striker on the right side of the box, but he took too long to get the shot away and that allowed the Real Betis defence time to recover.
It's just so slow and ponderous from Real Madrid. There is no zip to their passing play. Sure, it's the final game of the season, but it's been this way from them for a number of months.
PICTURE: Vinicius started well, but has faded.
Kaptoum has actually recovered from that injury he seemed to pick up a few moments ago and is back on the pitch for the away side. Real Betis are back up to 11 players again.
- Yellow cardFederico ValverdeReal Madrid
Valverde joins Llorente and Kaptoum in the referee's book. It was a foul on Guardado.
Kaptoum is down! This looks like being a blow to Real Betis. Kaptoum looks to have strained something and is slumped on the ground. Setien has asked Tello to warm up. He will be coming on.
Real Betis looked the more likely of the two teams to find the back of the net in the first half, but it was Real Madrid who had the best chance, with Benzema hitting the woodwork.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way! It's still 0-0 between Real Madrid and Real Betis in this Liga fixture.
What did you think of the first half at the Santiago Bernabeu? Do you fancy Real Betis to claim the victory given how things have gone? When will we see Bale off the bench? Tweet me!
- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis. The half time whistle sounds and the home fans inside the Santiago Bernabeu let their disgruntlement known. It hasn't been a good Real Madrid performance.
Feddal has a little nibble at Vinicius and the Brazilian winger responds angrily. He's arguing that the Real Betis should be shown a yellow card, but the referee keeps his cards in his pocket.
Will Zidane make a change at the half time break? Could we see Bale come on for the second half? Will Benzema play the full 90 minutes having only just returned from injury?
It's been a disjointed performance from Real Madrid in this first half, but the home supporters are used to this. This is what they have had to watch from their team all season.
Good Betis chance! The freekick was slung to the back post. where Firpo had got ahead of Carvajal. However, the Real Madrid right back did just enough to put him off and Firpo heads wide!
- Yellow cardMarcos LlorenteReal Madrid
Now Llorente is booked for pulling back Moron as he made the tackle.
Save from the lob! That would have been an exceptional goal from Lo Celso! He spotted Navas just off his line and attempted to lob him. It was heading into the net, but he tipped over the bar.
Off the post! Benzema should have opened the scoring! Varane's cross is controlled by Guerrero, but he then passes straight at the French striker 10 yards out. He strikes the woodwork, though!
- Yellow cardWilfrid KaptoumReal Betis
Kaptoum becomes the first player to be shown a yellow card this afternoon. He brought down Vinicius.
There is a place for Llorente in the Real Madrid team this afternoon. He is one of the players expected to leave the club this summer with Atletico Madrid reported to be interested.
It's just not happening for Real Madrid at the moment. That, of course, has been a familiar tale over the past few weeks and months. Their season has been over for a long time.
Tipped over! That was a strange freekick routine from Real Betis, who worked the shooting opportunity 20 yards out. It was Bartra with the effort, but Navas tipped it over his crossbar.
That was an unusual decision from the linesman. La Liga officials have been told to raise their flags late to allow for VAR, but the flag on that very tight call went up almost immediately.
Was he offside? Lo Celso was played through on goal, but chipped his finish wide of the far post. The flag was up for offside, but replays show that it was a VERY marginal decision. Was he on?
PICTURE: Benzema hasn't had much to feed off so far.
What a turn that was from Marcelo! He completely fooled his man on the touchline with a drag back and flick, but then the Brazilian left back's pass down the line was wayward.
What is Real Madrid's plan here other than to get the ball to Vinicius as often as they can? There is a real disconnect between the midfield and the attack of the home side.
Yikes. Nacho plays a pass right out of play and the Santiago Bernabeu groans. The cameras pan to Zidane who looks down at the ground. There's a lot on the Real Madrid manager's mind.
Carvalho and Lo Celso are having a lot of joy in the centre of the pitch. That is where Real Madrid have suffered a real decline this season. Kroos and Modric have been very poor.
Header on goal! Guardado played a clipped cross into the box, with Lo Celso directing the header on goal from 16 yards out. However, the effort is straight at Navas in the Real Madrid goal.
Will Bale be given a run out in the second half? Most in Spain expect this to be his final game as a Real Madrid player, but the Welsh winger doesn't want to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.
It's been a strong performance from Real Betis in the early stages of this match, but they are lacking a final ball. Navas has yet to face a single shot from the away side. Toothless so far.
Real Madrid face a big summer. Zidane will lead an overhaul of the squad at the Santiago Bernabeu. There will be signings which means there will also be outgoings. Who will leave?
Whistles are already being heard at the Santiago Bernabeu. We're only 15 minutes into the game! Real Betis have seen more of the ball, but they have yet to create a real chance.
Lo Celso has been one of the success stories of the season in Spain. The Argentinean has made quite the impact at Real Betis and that is why they have spent big to sign him permanently from PSG.
Diaz seems to be playing on the right side of the Real Madrid front three. Versatility is one of the youngster's best qualities. He can play on the left, right and even in the central midfield.
Vinicius dribble! So close to the Brazilian winger breaking through on the Real Betis goal. He dribbled past a couple of defenders, but the ball eventually runs into the hands of Lopez.
Real Betis have settled nicely into this game. Of course, it helps that there is very little riding on this game, but they don't look overawed by the prospect of playing at the Bernabeu.
That was interesting. Marcelo shoulders a pass back to Navas. Setien is on the touchline appealing for a handball, but the Real Betis boss was never getting a penalty for that.
Vinicius has started this match well. The Brazilian has been forced to watch on from the sidelines through injury for the past few months and he has a lot of energy to burn this afternoon.
There's a ripple of excitement around the Santiago Bernabeu when Vinicius touches the ball. The pressure on the Brazilian winger to be Real Madrid's next big thing is immense.
This is widely expected to be Navas' final game in a Real Madrid shirt. The Costa Rican has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital. He will be sold in the summer.
Benzema is back in the Real Madrid starting lineup for this game this afternoon. The French striker has been missed over the past few weeks trough injury. He's back now, though.
- 1st Half
The match is under way! It's Real Madrid against Real Betis on the final weekend of the 2018/19 La Liga season.
Okay, here we go. About to get started at the Santiago Bernabeu. Kick off is just moments away.
It looks like a pleasant, sunny afternoon in the Spanish capital. Zidane and Setien shake hands in the dugout.
The two teams are walking out at the Santiago Bernabeu. It doesn't look like a big crow for this one.
Diaz starts! Signed from Manchester City in the January window, Diaz has made quite the impact at the Santiago Bernabeu. Zidane seems to have been won over. He starts again today.
Setien needs a result today. Not in terms of the league table, but in terms of his future as Real Betis boss. Their fanbase is split on Setien after a mixed season from the Seville club.
Of course, Real Madrid nothing to play for today on this final day of the 2018/19 La Liga season. In truth, they haven't had something to play for for a long, long time. It's been a dreadful season.
Vinicius is back! The Brazilian has been handed a place in the Real Madrid starting lineup for this one, but there's still no spot for Bale. The Welsh winger has been left on the bench.
