Was this the night that Barcelona's title hopes were ended? They really needed a win this evening and had the lead twice, but allowed it to slip twice. For the neutral, this was a highly entertaining contest. Atletico Madrid will be pleased with a point, but for Barca it feels like the post-mortem to their season is already beginning.
- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Barcelona 2-2 Atletico Madrid
Lemar, Lemar... cleared! What a chance for Atletico Madrid to claim all three points! Lemar was in behind the Barcelona defence, but he just couldn't round Ter Stegen and his cut back for Felix is cleared!
Indeed, there will be four minutes of stoppage time played at the end of th match.
- OffArturo VidalFC Barcelona
- OnAntoine GriezmannFC Barcelona
Here comes Griezmann. He will get the grand total of about four minutes...
It's quite remarkable that with Barcelona chasing a goal to keep their title hopes alive, Griezmann is still on the bench. His Camp Nou career isn't going to play so far. An outcast and a misfit.
Shot is blocked! Morata does really well to get to the byline and then work his way back to create the shooting opportunity, but the effort from the Atletico Madrid striker is blocked!
- OffSergio BusquetsFC Barcelona
- OnAnsu FatiFC Barcelona
Ansu comes on for the final five minutes. Why didn't Setien introduce him sooner?
- OffÁngel CorreaAtlético Madrid
- OnVitoloAtlético Madrid
Well, this is interesting. Simeone has also thrown on Vitolo as well as Lemar. He wants all three points here.
- OffYannick CarrascoAtlético Madrid
- OnThomas LemarAtlético Madrid
On comes Lemar for the final five minutes at the Camp Nou.
If this scoreline holds, Real Madrid will have the chance to go four points clear at the top of La Liga with a win over Athletic Club on Thursday night. Would that be the title race over?
Header over the crossbar! The delivery into the box from Messi was a good one, Busquets got on the end of it, but his header flashes over the target. Not happening for Barcelona.
PICTURE: 700 goals not out for Messi.
- Yellow cardYannick CarrascoAtlético Madrid
Carrasco fouls Messi and is shown a yellow card, although was it for dissent rather than the tackle?
The impact Carrasco has made at Atletico Madrid since returning to the club in the January window has been quite remarkable. Nobody expected this from the Belgian.
- OffDiego CostaAtlético Madrid
- OnÁlvaro MorataAtlético Madrid
And now Costa comes off, with Morata replacing him for the final 10 minutes or so.
- OffMarcos LlorenteAtlético Madrid
- OnJoão FélixAtlético Madrid
On comes Felix for Llorente, who didn't have his best game, at least not by his recent standards.
- Yellow cardDiego CostaAtlético Madrid
Costa is shown a yellow card. It's amazing he's made it this long without a booking.
It's somewhat surprising to see both managers refain from making changes. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have played a lot of football recently. They both look rather weary! Leggy!
VIDAL... wide! Not far away from finding the back of the net! The Chilean made an excellent run into the box to get on the end of an Alba cross, but he could only glance wide of the target!
Penalty claim! Pique believes he was fouled at the back post as he went for a deep cross, but the referee didn't see enough in the challenge from Gimenez. He didn't win the ball...
That was a good passing move from Barcelona. They worked a good opportunity, wuith Semedo's cross into the middle a dangerous one, but the clearance was made by Arias.
PICTURE: Messi Panenka'd from the spot.
- OffIvan RakiticFC Barcelona
- OnSergi RobertoFC Barcelona
Setien makes his first change in response to the equaliser, with Rakitic coming off for Roberto.
I suspect there will be some debate over the award of that penalty kick. There might have been a touch from Semedo, but it primarily looked like Carrasco kicked his own leg!
- Goal by penaltySaúlAtlético Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 2 Atletico Madrid 2 (63 mins - Saul Niguez pen). The penalty stands despite some replays making it look like Carrasco tripped himself up, Saul took the spot kick and squeezes his shot through the hands of Ter Stegen. That was frustrating for the German keeper! He maybe should have saved it!
PENALTY KICK TO ATLETICO MADRID! Carrasco goes down inside the area under the chalenge of Semedo and the referee points to the spot!
Suarez has been relatively quiet this evening. The Uruguayan has played a lot of football recently having missed the last few months through injury. Will Griezmann replace him?
Puig was through! The young midfielder saw the space, he made the run, Messi spotted the run, Puig was in behind, but he couldn't control the pass and the ball runs through to Oblak!
What do Atletico Madrid have left in the tank? They are still involved in the hunt for Champions League qualification, although they are in a good position. A result here would help their cause.
Costa got up! Arias got down the right wing, his cross into the middle was met by Costa in the middle, he got up above Vidal, but could only head wide of the post! That was a good opportunity!
Ansu and Griezmann have been sent to go warm up by Setien down the touchline. Will we see them both in this second half? Barcelona have played a lot of football recently. Fatigue?
So this result, should the scoreline stay this way, will see Barcelona go back to the top of La Liga, but Real Madrid would be able to restore their two-point advantage on Thursday night.
How long will Puig last? The youngster hasn't played a lot of first team football, but has started the last two matches. How long will Setien leave him out there? Will he fade?
So how will Atletico Madrid respond to falling a goal behind? They have been second best since the start of the second half. Simeone won't be pleased with how they have restarted.
- Yellow cardFelipeAtlético Madrid
That was a bad tackle on the stretch from Felipe on Busuets. He is booked.
- Goal by penaltyLionel MessiFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 2 (50 mins - Lionel Messi pen) Atletico Madrid 1. Messi has put Barcelona ahead in this crucial match with his 700th career goal! And it's a Panenka finish down the middle. Oblak totally bought it and could only watch as the ball floated past him. He'd already made his dive to the left.
The officials are taking another look at it this using the VAR. Felipe is arguing that he didn't touch Semedo, but there was some contact. Surely this penalty kick will stand? Indeed it does.
PENALTY KICK TO BARCELONA! Semedo goes down inside the box under the challenge of Felipe and the referee points to the spot!
This could be the most important 45 minutes of Barcelona's season so far. They need thre points here to keep on Real Madrid's tails, with Los Blancos in charge of the title race.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way! It's 1-1 between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in this La Liga fixture!
What did you make of the first half at the Camp Nou? Have Atletico Madrid been the better of the two teams so far? Does Setien need to make any chances to his Barca side? Tweet me!
- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Barcelona 1-1 Atletico Madrid. A very entertaining and eventful opening 45 minutes comes to a close at the Camp Nou. More of the same after the break, please. Great to watch.
Carrasco shoots! The Belgian drives to the edge of the Barcelona penalty area at pace, he gets the shot away, but the block is made. That was a decent opportunity for Carrasco!
Not his favourite venue...
It's Atletico Madrid pressing for a second goal at the end of the first half. They have carried a real threat in this opening period. Carrasco and Saul have both played well so far.
There will be four minutes of stoppage time played at the end of this first half.
It has been an entertaining first half at the Camp Nou. Both teams have created chances, both teams have tried to take the match to the other. More of the same after the break, please.
MESSI... saved! That was a brilliant freekick from Messi, it picked up a slight deflection off Saul, that was enough to wrong-foot Oblak, but the Atletico Madrid keeper tips over his crossbar!
Magnificent play from Puig. He got away from Thomas despite the Atletico Madrid midfielder doing his best to take out the young Barcelona player. The freekick is given.
Setien is out on the touchline gesturing to his Barcelona players. But how many of them are listening? There is increasingly a sense that Setien has already lost the dressing room.
PICTURE: Ter Stegen saved Costa's first penalty before it was retaken.
Of course, Atletico Madrid still have some work to do to secure their place in the top four and qualify for next season's Champions League. A point, or more, here would help them do that.
10 minutes until the half time interval. Can either side take the lead before the break? Barcelona have seen more of the ball, but Atletico Madrid are certainly carrying a goal threat.
- Yellow cardSaúlAtlético Madrid
Saul becomes the latest player to be shown a yellow card. He tripped Messi.
Carrasco has started this match well. Of course, it was the Belgian who won the penalty kick from Vidal. He has made quite the impact since returning to Atletico Madrid in January.
There is a real sense that Barcelona are fragile as a team at the moment. Messi doesn't seem too happy with both the leadership and the coaches at the club right now. Setien on thin ice.
The first cooling break of the night... all eyes on Sarabia and Messi. The newspaper reports after the Celta game claimed Messi didn't listen to the first team coach during the cooling break at Balaidos.
PICTURE: Costa scored an own goal.
Here's Messi... wide! The Barcelona number 10 will be a bit disappointed with that. He was set up for the shot on goal by Alba, but is effort is way wide of the near post. Oblak not concerned.
Barcelona have taken a grip of the game since the equaliser. Although Atletico Madrid seem quite happy to sit back and invite the pressure on top of themselves before hitting out.
Just a reminder that this scoreline would give Real Madrid the chance to extend their lead at the top of La Liga to four points with a victory over Athletic Club on Thursday night.
- Yellow cardGerard PiquéFC Barcelona
It should be noted that Pique was shown a yellow card for his protests after the saved penalty kick that was then re-taken.
Replays of that Messi shot show just how close it was to putting Barcelona back in front. Oblak was beaten. He wasn't getting anywhere near it. It might even have shaved the post!
So close from Messi! The Barcelona number 10 attempted to find the far corner of the Atletico Madrid net with a trademark left-footed finish from 18 yards out, but the ball flashes only INCHES wide!
So... it's fair to say this has been an eventful opening 20 minutes at the Camp Nou. Both teams have had their chances and both teams have found the back of the net early on.
This was the opening goal!
- Goal by penaltySaúlAtlético Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 1 Atletico Madrid 1 (19 mins - Saul Niguez pen). It's second time lucky for Atletico Madrid as they equalise from the spot! This time it's Saul, not Costa, who steps up and the midfielder rolls the finish into the opposite corner of the net to Ter Stegen. We are back on level terms!
PENALTY KICK TO BE RE-TAKEN! The officials have decided Ter Stegen did indeed stray off his line to make the save from Saul and Atletico Madrid will get a second chance!
- Yellow cardMarc-André ter StegenFC Barcelona
Ter Stegen has been booked for, well... we're not sure. Has he been booked for coming off his line for the penalty? Is this penalty being taken again? Confusion here at the moment.
PENALTY SAVED! Costa steps up to the 12-yard mark, but Ter Stegen reads the Atletico Madrid strker's attempt and makes the save! Was Ter Stegen off his line when he made the save, though?
PENALTY KICK TO ATLETICO MADRID! Carrasco dribbles into the box, Vidal trips the Belgian and the referee points to the spot!
Atletico Madrid will feel a little aggrieved that they are behind here. They had started the match rather well and had even created a couple of opportunities of their own. Barca lead.
- Own-goalDiego CostaAtlético Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 1 (12 mins - Diego Costa OG) Atletico Madrid 0. Barcelona have taken the lead and it's an own goal by Costa! Messi's driven corner kick delivery was a dangerous one and the Atletico Madrid striker got himself in a tangle, with the ball deflecting past Oblak and into the back of the net.
Blocked at the near post! That would have been one of Messi's most inventive goals! The angle was tight, but Messi still managed to get the shot on target. Costa was on the line to block at the near post!
Arthur is on the bench for Barcelona this evening. It was only yesterday that his move to Juventus was confirmed, with Pjanic heading in the opposite direction. Will he play for Barca again?
Oblak makes the save! Rakitic wins the ball high up the pitch and gets the shot away, but Oblak gets down to make the low save and push the effort away from the Atletico Madrid goal.
Shooting chance! Barcelona work the ball to the edge of the penalty area with Messi getting the effort away, but Correa makes the block to stop Oblak even having to make the save.
Atletico Madrid come into this game in good form. They seem to have turned the corner since the resumption of the season. They will be targeting all three points to take home tonight.
So close! What a chance for Atletico Madrid to take an early lead! Carrasco whipped in a dangerous freekick delivery from the left and it bounces all the way through, flashing just wide of the far post!
Alba knock! The Barcelona left back collided with Llorente a few moments ago and is down receiving some treatment. He's now back on his feet and will be fine to continue.
Puig was excellent in the draw against Celta Vigo on Saturday and so Setien has kept him in the starting lineup for this one. He brings some much-needed energy to the Barca midfield.
Good ball! Lodi gets to the byline and plays a good ball to the back post. Alba and Llorente contest the same delivery and the referee says it's a goal kick when it was clearly a corner.
Early chance for Barca! Puig races down the right side and into the opposition half, he plays a wonderful cross-field pass for Suarez who takes the shot first time. It's tame. He could have taken a touch!
- 1st Half
The match is under way! It's Barcelona against Atletico Madrid in this Spanish Liga fixture!
Okay, here we go. We are about to get started at the Camp Nou. Kick off is just moments away.
The two teams are in the tunnel at the Camp Nou. The subs are already in their socially-distanced seasts in the stands. Almost ready to go.
Not long until kick off at the Camp Nou. This has the potential to be one of the most significant matches of the whole season with plenty on the line for both sides this evening. Five minutes to go.
Real Madrid hold a two-point advantage at the top of La Liga and so it's crucial that Barcelona don't drop any more points here. They can't afford any more slip ups or it coul end their title hopes.
I'm Graham Ruthven and you can catch me on Twiter ahead of the match to let me know your thoughts. Who do you see as the favourites for this one? Has Setien got his team selection right? Tweet me!
Puig starts! He was the best player on the pitch against Celta Vigo on Saturday and so Setien has stuck with the young midfielder for this potentially season-defining fixture! Puig was brilliant at the weekend.
