Kylian Mbappe netted his 100th Ligue 1 goal to lead PSG to a 4-2 victory over Lyon and go top of Ligue 1.
Previous leaders Lille, who Les Parisiens beat 3-0 in the Coupe de France on Wednesday, now fall into second on goal difference after their surprise loss to relegation-threatened Nimes, while Lyon stay in third - three points behind.
Mbappe opened the scoring a quarter of an hour into the game with a left-footed finish after seizing on the rebound that came from Anthony Lopes saving Marco Verratti’s effort. PSG then signalled their intent in the 32nd minute when Marquinhos headed down Abou Diallo’s dink for Danilo to half-volley into the bottom corner and make it 2-0.
Les Gones hardly had any reprieve, as PSG picked up from where they left off straight after half-time and made it 3-0 thanks to Angel Di Maria’s curled free-kick somehow evading everyone and trickling into the net.
Just five minutes later the away side added a fourth with a textbook counter-attack. Karl Toko-Ekambi’s shot was saved well by Navas and the ball was almost immediately dispatched upfield to Mbappe, who inevitably could not be caught and struck past Lopes.
It was not all doom and gloom for Lyon though. Islam Slimani smashed home a consolation goal a few minutes after being substituted on for star man Memphis Depay, who underwhelmed, to say the least.
Cornet, who assisted Slimani for Lyon’s first, then popped up with a second goal in the 81st minute to give the away side a scare when Alessandro Florenzi misjudged the bounce on Rayan Cherki’s pass.
Another cause for concern was Mbappe signalling to come off with 20 minutes to go, but PSG fans might be reassured by him smiling on the sidelines straight afterwards and his substitution giving Neymar his first run out since 10th February.
TALKING POINT - MBAPPE JOINS THE 100 CLUB
Tonight Mbappe bagged his 99th and 100th Ligue 1 goals in just his 142nd league appearance. At any age that's incredible, but at 22 it becomes even more so.
Much of the recent talk has centred around people comparing him and Erling Haaland while also suggesting they are the new generation's Messi and Ronaldo, but such comparisons are futile as they a spur a neverending debate that we will likely never have an answer to, as is the case with the latter two.
However, what is infinitely more interesting is where they both see their career path going and also whether Mbappe believes he can create a Messi-esque legacy in Paris by winning the Champions League and dominating on a European scale during a potential pursuit of breaking Delio Onnis' French top flight goalscoring record of 299 that was accumulated in the 1970s and 80s.
Mbappe's contract expires next summer, so not only do PSG risk losing him for free, but his future lies almost entirely in his hands.
MAN OF THE MATCH - KYLIAN MBAPPE (PSG)
An easy decision. Predictably clinical, scoring with two of his three shots on goal that were all on target, and his work rate was immense. He was all over the pitch, even deep inside his own half looking to win the ball or instigate an attack and it was near impossible for Lyon to pin him down. It says a lot that PSG practically fell apart as soon as he came off. Contract negotiations if/when they happen will just involve Leonardo handing him a blank cheque.
15' - GOAL!!! Mbappe opens the scoring with his 99th Ligue 1 goal and 150th goal in his career! Verratti's shot was parried by the 'keeper and Mbappe seized on the rebound with a delightful first touch before a low finish on his left foot through the legs of Lopes!
32' - GOAL!!! PSG have a second! Cross comes in after a short corner, Diallo dinks it inwards from around the back post and Marquinhos heads it down for Danilo to half-volley into the bottom corner! 2-0 PSG. This has been a limp performance from Lyon so far.
47' - GOAL!!! Di Maria brushes aside any hopes of a comeback for the home side with PSG's third of the night! Denayer brings him down on the right to gift him a free-kick and his menacing, curled cross somehow evades everyone and bounces into the bottom left corner!

52' - GOAL!!! Lyon fans look away now. Textbook counter attack from PSG as Verratti puts Mbappe one-on-one with Lopes and there's only going to be one outcome! That's his 100th Ligue 1 goal too. 4-0 PSG and that all started with Navas saving Ekambi's effort.
62' - GOAL!!! Slimani scores against the run of play! It's not all doom and gloom for Lyon after all. Cornet makes a run forward from defence and plays a nice one-two with the Algerian target man, who takes over and smashes it in for a consolation goal.
81' - GOAL!! PSG caught sleeping! Florenzi misjudges the bounce of the ball and Cherki's pass finds its way to Cornet, who produces a composed finish to get Lyon a second! Surely a comeback isn't on the cards?
83' - WHAT A STOP!! The comeback was very nearly well and truly on! Dubois takes a corner from near the corner flag, Marcelo heads it into Slimani and Navas makes a world-class save to stop it. Coqueret then fires from range and Navas spills it but luckily for him there was no attacker near.
