Presnel Kimpembe has taken to social media to say he wasn't made aware of Paris Saint-Germain's decision to replace him as vice-captain with Kylian Mbappe. Kimpembe insisted he respects the decision, but shot down reports that he had agreed to step down earlier in the season. Mbappe wore the armband as he scored five goals in a 7-0 cup win over Pays de Cassel on Monday.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe says he wasn’t informed about the club’s decision to replace him with Kylian Mbappe as vice-captain.
France star Mbappe wore the armband for PSG’s thumping 7-0 win over Pays de Cassel in the Coupe de France on Monday, in which he scored five of his side’s goals.
Captain Marquinhos missed out, and Kimpembe has previously stepped in to deputise in the Brazilian’s absence.
The centre-back is currently out injured and couldn’t feature anyway, but he was left surprised when manager Christophe Galtier said after the game that Mbappe was now the designated vice-captain.
“In the last few hours I have been able to hear and read a lot about myself," Kimpembe wrote on Instagram.
"I therefore wish to make things clear in order to avoid continuing to spread false information in this regard.
"I was not made aware of this decision, this is completely false...
“That said, I will always respect the decisions of the club."
Kimpembe has been beset by fitness issues in 2022/23, making just 11 appearances in all competitions amid calf, hamstring and Achilles tendon issues.
PSG next play Reims on Sunday as they look to extend their three-point lead over Marseille in Ligue 1.
