March 23 (Reuters) - Alex McLeish's second stint as Scotland manager got off to a disappointing start as they were beaten 1-0 on their own turf by the World Cup-bound Costa Rica in Glasgow.

The Central Americans got off to a strong start at Hampden Park and were in front within the first 15 minutes when a well-placed cross by Bryan Oviedo was met with a low finish from striker Marco Urena.
Costa Rica, who famously also beat Scotland 1-0 in the 1990 World Cup finals, almost doubled their advantage shortly after halftime but Bryan Ruiz's fierce drive hit the crossbar.
It marked a disppointing return for McLeish, who enjoyed a successful first spell as Scotland manager in 2007.
His side now travel to Budapest to take on Hungary on Tuesday, while Costa Rica meet Tunisia in Nice, France. (Reporting by Christian Radnedge Editing by Ian Chadband)
