Dutch defender Ron Vlaar has changed his mind about moving from AZ Alkmaar to Tottenham Hotspur and is joining Feyenoord instead. The 20-year-old, who has been capped twice for the Netherlands, visited London last week to negotiate personal terms with Tottenham, managed by Dutchman Martin Jol.

But Vlaar had a change of heart and is joining Feyenoord on Jan. 1 on a three-and-a half-year contract.
He told the Dutch club's website on Wednesday: "It was...my preference to play for a big Dutch club so when Feyenoord called I didn't really have to think for too long."
Alkmaar had reportedly wanted 3.5 million euros ($4.16 million) for Vlaar when a move to Tottenham seemed imminent though a fee of 2.5 million euros looked more likely.
Feyenoord are third in the Dutch first division behind leaders PSV Eindhoven and Alkmaar.
