Manchester United renew interest in Toni Kroos

The Daily Mirror reports that Manchester United are set to renew their efforts to land Real Madrid's German midfielder Toni Kroos. The report claims Kroos is unsettled in Spain and could be eased out as part of a major Real squad overhaul this summer.
Paper Round's view: The report doesn't include any quotes or details about the particulars of the move. What's more, we don't even know who is going to be Manchester United manager next season or if that manager wants Kroos. Real have had a dismal season but Kroos is still a regular, and regulars at Real Madrid don't normally try to move. All told, it's a pretty speculative story.

According to the Mirror, Manchester City will have a fight on their hands in courting Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogen from the overtures Barcelona and Real Madrid. The report suggests that while City remain favourites and Pep Guardiola has his signature as a high priority, Madrid and Barcelona's interest has increased ever since it was announced he'll leave his Bundesliga club at the end of season.
Paper Round's view: Considering there's only a year left on his contract, whoever signs him can force Dortmund to clear him for a reasonable price. The German powerhouse would be reluctant to lose another quality player for no fee, like when Robert Lewandowski went to Bayern Munich.

The Independent are reporting that Paul Pogba is being scouted by Chelsea representatives, and was reportedly the subject of a bid last summer from the London club. The story says on the free market Pogba is worth about £70 million and has Manchester City, United, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid interested in his services.
Paper Round's view: Chelsea's interest in Pogba isn't really news. Everyone wants a slice of the Frenchman, but the question is who will end up getting him? Expect one of the great bidding wars over the summer.

Arsenal target Christian Benteke

The Metro are reporting Arsenal are weighing up a move for Liverpool's Christian Benteke, as Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen squad in attack and defence. Benteke's move to Liverpool since the start of the season has come with lukewarm results, and Wenger is by all reports a long time fan of the Belgian.
Paper Round's view: Benteke would be an odd acquisition, given he neither suits Arsenal's passing style nor is the world class striker the fans crave. It's difficult to see what would make him preferable to Olivier Giroud. For his part, Benteke's agent Kismet Eris has said the striker is "only thinking about Liverpool at the moment”.
