Chelsea on alert as Marquinhos could leave PSG

The Mirror are reporting that Chelsea are on alert as 21-year-old Brazilian defender Marquinhos could leave PSG in the summer, as he is currently stuck behind the defensive pairing of David Luiz and Thiago Silva. The Blues went for him in the final week of the January transfer window, as it was clear John Stones would not be moving from Everton, but missed out - they could put that right in the summer.
Paper Round's view: His brief tenure at Roma and early performances for PSG portrayed the reason why he is rated so highly - a strong, confident centre half, who is also dangerous at set pieces and on the ball. Exactly what Chelsea should be after.

Pep Guardiola considers move for Aymeric Laporte and John Stones to bolster defence

Daily Express are reporting that Pep Guardiola's Manchester City revolution will include Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao and John Stones from Everton, as City seek to bolster their aging and injury probe defence. The report suggests that City will fork out close to £80 million on the pair, in the hope that it begins to rebuild the side from the back.

Paper Round's view: Signings in key defensive posts are probably three seasons overdue, so it's good to hear Guardiola isn't going to top up on attacking threats and will solve the existing issues at City. Both are decent on the ball and will fit into Pep's ideal of precision, possession football.

Yaya Toure gives City a one week deadline in contract ultimatum

Looks as if Yaya Toure's demands have once again flared up, as the Sun are reporting the Ivorian has given Manchester City a week deadline to decide whether they want him at the club next season. Toure's manager Dimitry Seluk, wants to know if his client will be able to get the three year deal he is after, as Toure is willing to stay at the club.

Paper Round's view: Yaya Toure has delivered and given Manchester City fans a lot, but to be quite frank, the constant demands and complaints are no longer worth his output. It's quite clear Guardiola doesn't see Toure as worthy of being a cog in his machines for whatever reason, so publicly holding the club to ransom won't fly. Thanks for the memories, Yaya.

Chelsea warned Antonio Conte is the 'boss' and doesn't put up with bad behaviour

Gianluigi Buffon warns Chelsea players that incoming boss Antonio Conte has a "very strict" code of conduct, according the Mirror. Buffon said Conte has very clear ideas about "respect and behaviour", a warning shot fired at a Chelsea dressing room that has become beyond dysfunctional.

Paper Round's view: Probably for the best, as between the flare ups at training and the transfer sagas, the law needs to established. Perhaps not to the point where the pressure became too much under Mourinho, but order needs to be restored.
