Pogba calls out Mourinho

We start with an explosive story on some of the back pages this evening and that is that Paul Pogba has called out his manager Jose Mourinho for being too negative. Mourinho criticised Pogba following the 1-1 draw with Wolves on Saturday but Pogba has hit back. The midfielder, whose future was already the subject of intense speculation, said that at Old Trafford the team should be attacking. When pressed as to why that wasn't the case Pogba offered up the excuse that he was just a player not the manager.
Paper Round's view: All is not well at Old Trafford... Wolves are an exceptional side as far as newly promoted teams are concerned but United should still be winning against them at home. That Pogba feels prepared to call out Mourinho like this has to be a worrying sign for United fans. It's becoming increasingly tricky to see Pogba's long-term future being at United.

Wenger ready to return?

We move to a report from The Sun which says that Arsene Wenger might be edging closer to a return as he starts to assemble a potential back-room staff. One name Wenger has lined up is Damien Comolli, who worked with him at Arsenal and Monaco.
Paper Round's view: Wenger's return does have a sense of inevitability about it. He's probably done this the right way, he hasn't rushed into a situation and has instead taken some time to rest and recharge. Where he will end up is a different matter entirely, and will be very interesting to see.

Benitez optimistic after Ashley appearance

We now have quotes from Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez who has said that he is optimistic following owner Mike Ashley's first appearance at St James' Park in over a year. Benitez didn't get too carried away but said after the 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace that he was hopeful that Ashley's presence might result in progress.
Paper Round's view: Any problems at Old Trafford are made to look tiny by what is going on at St James' Park. Rafa Benitez is one of the best managers Newcastle have had in recent memory but they still risk losing him due to the shoddy management of the club. It's hardly a new assessment but the quicker Newcastle can get a new owner in the better...

Sarri admits it could be a year until his side reach Liverpool's level

Finally we end with quotes from Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri who has admitted that his team are a way off where he wants them to be. Speaking after Chelsea's 0-0 draw with West Ham, Sarri referenced his team's upcoming double-header against league leaders Liverpool, saying that Jurgen Klopp's side were ahead of where the Blues are at the moment.
Paper Round's view: This is fairly logical from Sarri and it's good to see him remaining grounded despite some of the early season hype surrounding his team. The 0-0 draw should bring some people back to earth but it sounds like Sarri has a really good idea of exactly where his team are.
