Philippe Coutinho was the star man as his double and involvement in Liverpool's second half purple patch proved crucial. He went off with what looked like an injury and the Merseysiders will hope it isn't serious.

A Liverpool break sees Origi tee up Henderson on the left but the captain's first-time 22-yard drive is deflected wide.

Mignolet comes and punches to safety but the momentum is with the hosts now. Liverpool still looking to break but not as dangerous now.

Nervy moments for Liverpool fans. No-one will be expecting that defence to hold out under much pressure.
Arsenal's tails up and Liverpool looking less likely with Coutinho off the pitch.

GOAL!!! Calum Chambers reduces the arrears. Cazorla's superb left-wing free kick is flicked into the far corner by the defender. It's 3-4 and game on!
Cazorla takes aim from 30 yards but flashes his rising effort well wide.
Still plenty of time left in this. Neither team has looked great defensively. Will we have more goals?
Count the passes! Coutinho's second and Liverpool's third was a work of art.
LIVERPOOL CHANGE: Coutinho limps off. Emre Can comes on to replace him. Hopefully it's not serious.
Coutinho races at the heart of the Arsenal defence and then goes down holding his leg. Major concerns for Liverpool. They won't want to lose their little magician to injury for any period of time.
Not a good start to 16-17 for Wenger!
ARSENAL CHANGE: Granit Xhaka on for his debut in place of Elneny.
Wow - hard to catch breath here. What a second half we've had thus far. Can Arsenal somehow fight their way back into it?
GOAL!!! Arsenal get one back. It's 4-2 now as Oxlade Chamberlain dances beyond Clyne and Lallana before firing in a deflected shot that deceives Mignolet at the near post.
GOAL!!!! It's surely game over now. Mane jinks in from the right and arrows a wonderful shot into the top corner to make it 4-1 and notch a superb solo goal on his bow.
A former Red is enjoying the second-half show.
ARSENAL CHANGE: Cazorla on for the injured Ramsey. It's not going well for the home side at present.
It's been one-way traffic in this second half. Liverpool with six attempts on target to Arsenal's three. Still time for the hosts to get back into this though.
Klavan booked as Arsenal make a change. Oxlade-Chamberlain on for the injured Iwobi.
It's almost four! Arsenal's defence is carved open once more and it takes a last-ditch challenge to deny Lallana a tap-in at the far post!
Arsenal were seconds away form going in at the break 1-0 ahead. Fast forward 12 minutes of game time and they are suffering another opening weekend mare.
GOAL!!! Liverpool are 3-1 ahead! Coutinho crashes in his second of the game with a lovely volley on the run from Clyne's driven right-wing cross. What a transformation!
Liverpool looking like a completely different side now. some lovely touches in and around the Arsenal box. The hosts look shell-shocked.
Lallana had a tough first half but has responded well with a smartly taken and somewhat rare away strike.
Liverpool with a spring in their step now. Mane leads the charge and uses the runners to cut in on his left foot, but his attempt from 20 yards is easily blocked.
Great still of Coutinho's equaliser.
A wonderful first-time flick from Coutinho in the lead up to Wijnaldum's clipped cross too.
GOAL!!!! Liverpool have turned it around. Adam Lallana arrives on the right of the area to chest down Wijnaldum's clever clip to the far post and roll it under the advancing Cech.
Hard to do much about a quality strike like Coutinho's though!
Fair to say Arsenal's new-look centre back pairing has done well so far.
The much-maligned Moreno's first half in numbers...
KICK OFF! Arsenal restart the match.
HT: Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool. Coutinho's touch of genius ensures the visitors are level at the break after Walcott had made up for a penalty miss with a smart finish to open the scoring.
GOAL!!! Liverpool are level. Coutinho curls a delicious right-foot free kick over the wall and into the left-hand corner from 25 yards out.
Two minutes added with Liverpool probing.
Chambers meets the resulting left-wing corner but can only guide his header well wide.
Sanchez with a long-range free kick that deflects wide of Mignolet's right-hand post.
Talking point so far? Moreno!
Coutinho jinks in from the left but his curving cross-shot is easily plucked out of the air by Cech.
Wijnaldum gets on the end of a fine Liverpool move but steers his shot straight at Cech.
Not bad from Mignolet given that he may not have been playing had Loris Karius not been injured in pre-season.
Sanchez runs clear as Arsenal break at pace - but he's flagged offside. Liverpool breathe a sigh of relief. Wonder if Klopp will make a change at HT?
Moreno's display will only heighten belief the Merseysiders should sign a left back before the window shuts...

Arsenal's goal comes down Moreno's side, though LFC did lose the ball midway in their own half.
GOAL! Arsenal lead. Walcott makes amends as he collects Iwobi's pass and drills a low shot across the goal and into the far corner. From villain to hero in just 68 seconds.
Big let off for Liverpool. Moreno starting off where he left off against Sevilla in the Europa League. Dreqadful defending.
PENALTY SAVED! Mignolet produces a super stop as he dives to his right to push away Walcott's penalty kick.
Moreno booked for a stupid challenge on Walcott. Poor defending. Walcott to take for the home side.

The free kick comes to nothing for Liverpool. We've had very little in terms of actual chances. Some Reds fans on Twitter already calling for Origi!
Firmino collects a pass on the right of the area and volleys a low attempt towards goal that Mane is inches away from diverting into the net. The ball rolls to the left flank where Walcott gives away a free kick. Better form the visitors.
Henderson seizes possession deep in Gunners territory and teases a ball to the far post where Firmino can't collect to get a shot away. Best moment so far for the Merseysiders.
Walcott left frustrated as Arsenal waste a decent opening to stretch the4 LFc defence. The forward has space to run into but Ramsey opts to attempt a lob from 40 yards that sails harmlessly over the bar.
Arsenal's fledgling centre back pairing have had littl3e to do so far. Klopp won't be happy his side have failed to get at them.
A flowing Gunners move on the right comes to a screeching halt as Sanchez's return pass towards Walcott is overhit. Unlucky for the home side who continue to look the better side.
Mane trying to carve out an opening in the Arsenal box. He is outnumbered and calls for a spot kick as his attempted cross is blocked. There's nothing in it at all and the hosts eventually move it clear.
Arsenal fans have been crying out for a striker for some time now - what about this chap?
OPENING DAY PREVIOUS: The two teams have met seven times before on the opening weekend. Liverpool have won four and lost one.

Arsenal float a free kick into a dangerous area but Klavan rises well to thump a dominant header clear.
Moreno makes up for a woeful defensive header by racing across to deny Ramsey on the left of the area. Mignolet comes and punches the resulting corner to safety.

Arsenal first to show with Monreal on the left side of the area, but the Spaniard's cutback is blocked behind for a corner.
FIRST DAY JITTERS? Arsenal have lost just one of the 10 most recent league and cup meetings between the two sides, winning five of them. However, they have been defeated in two of their last three home games on the opening weekend of the season.
This is potentially a difficult test for 21-year-old Calum Chambers and 20-year-old debutant Rob Holding given LFC's scoring record so far in 2016.
DID YOU KNOW? Liverpool's only win in their last 20 trips to Arsenal in all competitions came in the Premier League in August 2011. The Merseysiders triumped 2-0 that day courtesy of an own goal from Aaron Ramsey and a strike from substitute Luis Suarez. That is the only occasion in almost 33 years that the Reds have won at the Gunners by more than one goal..

LANDMARKS: Simon Mignolet plays his 150th game for Liverpool in all competitions with Roberto Firmino featuring in his 50th. The latter scored nine goals and set up four more in 15 Premier League appearances this calendar year, including two goals against Arsenal in January.

Last season the teams drew 0-0 at Emirates Stadium in the third league game of the season before playing out an enthralling 3-3 draw in the return clash at Anfield.

We need to skip one more place. The last four years we have been fourth, third and second, and we want to make progress again."
