90+3'

Manquillo sends in another cross from the right and Joselu spins as he tries to land the volley but it loops up and is easy for Lossl.

90+1'

There are going to be four minutes of added time here...

And Lascelles has gone into the book for a challenge on Mounie.

Meanwhile Huddersfield make their last change as Hefele makes his Premier League debut as he replaces Ince.

90'

Decent hit from Joselu but Lossl is down well to his left and holds it.

87'

Newcastle are looking more tired here. Huddersfield still seem to have energy particularly with Mooy in the middle of the park.

84'

Just over five minutes left plus added time for Newcastle.

Still Mitrovic sits on the bench, which is strange.

83'

Credit to Mounie he's still working hard for his team even if things aren't coming off for him as he would like.

81'

Murphy spins well away from Schindler but the defender recovers and blocks the shot behind for a corner.

80'

And now with ten minutes to go it's the final Newcastle change as Murphy replaces Perez.

77'

Right we're back after some gremlins in the system.

Huddersfield have a chance from a corner but it is smothered by Elliot.

There's been a change for Newcastle as Diame comes on.

71'

Hayden gets free on the edge of the area but fires his shot over.

Another Huddersfield sub as Palmer comes on to replace Kachunga.

SAVE! CHANCE!

Joselu plays a one-two with Atsu and just about stabs a shot away. Lossl makes the save and tips it wide.

Great chance from the corner as Clark's header finds Perez but he hooks it over.

64'

And now Lossl is down as Joselu follows in on him trying to charge him down. The Newcastle man goes into the book.

63'

A free-kick from Ritchie goes all the way back to Merino. He plays a glorious cross-field pass that Manquillo reaches but Lossl does well to gather.

62'

Decent spell for Newcastle that sees Joselu spread it out to the right to Manquillo. His cross goes deep to the back post where Ritchie tries to play it back across but hits the side netting.

59'

Mooy loses possession in his own half but makes up for it a couple of minutes later as he reads a pass and cuts it out before Atsu can reach it.

57'

More good pressing from Huddersfield sees Elliot smash the ball straight out of play following pressure from Mounie.

55'

Kachunga thinks he's got in behind the Newcastle back line but he has been pulled back for a foul.

  • Isaac Hayden

GOAL! HUDDERSFIELD 1-0 NEWCASTLE (MOOY)

Lovely, lovely goal from Mooy. He picks the ball up about 25 yards out. Plays a clever one-two with Kachunga and curls the ball into the corner of the net. Great strike and the stadium is buzzing.

47'

Not a brilliant couple of minutes for Smith as he is nearly caught out by Ritchie and then goes lunging in for a loose ball. Luckily he didn't catch Mbemba.

46'

Welcome back. There are no changes for either side and we're back underway.

45+1'

Great ball in from Ince and Mounie's header is just about blocked. It goes behind again and after a second corner the half-time whistle is blown.

45'

Ritchie, who has switched wings, pounces on a loose ball in the box but his snapshot is blocked.

Huddersfield break but Kachunga's pass to Mounie is intercepted and put behind for a corner.

44'

Huddersfield just trying to slow the game down and keep possession. At this stage they'd probably be happy just to go in level and get some energy back.

  • Matt Ritchie
Yellow cardMatt RitchieNewcastle UnitedLossl decides he's going to try and liven things up a bit by coming out of his box. He heads clear and then slides to clear the loose ball. At the other end Ritchie is booked for a late challenge on Mooy.

40'

You'd think this would be the period of the match where Newcastle tried to up the pace and nick a goal before half-time but they seem very content to see things out for the last five minutes.

37'

Huddersfield have slowed down a little in the lsat five minutes. I guess it's difficult to maintain that sort of speed for 90 minutes.

35'

Atsu gets space down the right and his first cross is blocked. The second finds Gayle and he goes down as Newcastle want a penalty. The referee isn't interested and replays show that it was a good tackle from Schindler.

34'

Van La Parra is at the centre of most of what Huddersfield are doing but he's livid when he loses the ball and is penalised for a foul on Manquillo. He kicks the ball away and Pawson has a word. Replays show it might have been a fair challenge.

31'

And we have our first proper talking to for the day as Hayden gets a lecture from Pawson for a late challenge on Mooy.

30'

Ritchie goes near-post but it's cleared. He then sends in two crosses in quick succession with his right foot and on both occasions it fails to clear the first man. Poor from the Newcastle man.

29'

Good chance for Newcastle here as Billing gives away a free-kick on Newcastle's left. Ritchie stands over it...

28'

Great work from Perez steals the ball from Zanka near the Huddersfield goal but the move breaks down as Newcastle's final ball lets them down.

26'

The ball is zipping across the surface and the Huddersfield players are really firing their passes in. It's effective but it can also result in some bad touches.

24'

Much has been made about the comparisons between Wagner and Klopp but you can see it in the way Huddersfield set up.

The pressing is organised and impressive.

22'

Huddersfield's pressing from a Newcastle goal-kick sees them get a chance as Mounie drags the ball back so Ince can get a shot away but it is blocked.

The ball is loose and falls to Mounie but he's flagged for offside.

20'

Van La Parra twists and turns down the left but he can't beat Manquillo and has to settle for a corner.

That's the best delivery of the game so far as Mounie is really close to getting a flick-on. Elliot came out flapping but he was nowhere.

18'

I wonder if the pitch was watered just before the game started. A few players have slipped in the last couple of minutes.

I thought Clark might be a weak-spot at left-back and Newcastle have moved him to left centre-back with Mbemba coming out to full-back.

16'

TERRIFIC SAVE!

That's an excellent save from Lossl. Perez plays it to Ritchie and he curls a shot with his right. It's creeping in until Lossl gets finger tips to it and sends it wide.

15'

Smith is a real fan-favourite and they get excited when he knocks it and runs. Eventually the ball is loose and Ince takes a snap-shot that fizzes into the hands of Elliot.

13'

Ince is everywhere at the moment in that free role and he's causing problems for the Newcastle defenders.

Down the other end Lowe makes a good tackle to stop Atsu.

11'

The free-kick from Mooy is poor and is cleared to Lowe whose delivery also can't clear the first man.

However at the third attempt Kachunga sends in a really good ball that deserved to have someone on the end of it.

10'

The fans roar their approval as Kachunga, Mooy and Mounie all work their socks off to box Newcastle in and they win a free-kick.

9'

Mounie slips the ball to Ince and he sees his shot blocked and loops in the air. He takes on the difficult volley and it goes over.

8'

Van La Parra wins a corner which brings an interesting, and clearly pre-worked routine.

It breaks to the captain Smith outside the box and his volley nearly leaves the stadium it's so high.

7'

Mooy involved again as he links up with Van La Parra down the left but his cross is straight at Elliot.

5'

First effort of the game for the home team. Good pressing sees Van La Parra set up Lowe down the left. His cross is cleared by Mooy whose shot is easily saved by elliot.

3'

Mbemba is down clutching his head following a challenge but he's going to be okay to carry on despite a nasty little cut on the side of his head.

2'

And it's Perez who has the first chances as he's played through by Gayle but his shot is blocked well.

1'

And we're underway as Huddersfield kick-off.

Right it's prediction time. Let me know which way you think this is going to go!

The stadium is filling up and the place is buzzing. This is going to be a cracking atmosphere and hopefully a game to match. We're just five minutes away now...

GAYLE FORCE

If Mounie is the danger man for Huddersfield then Newcastle will be looking towards Dwight Gayle. He top scored last season with 23 goals and he has scored in all three of his previous games against Huddersfield.

PICTURE PERFECT

The John Smith's Stadium is looking absolutely resplendent this afternoon.

STAT ATTACK

As Wagner mentioned these teams played each other twice last season in the Championship and on both occasions it was the away team who emerged victorious.

WAGNER

And here's Huddersfield manager David Wagner.

"Like always, we didn't something extraordinary. We try to be focused onself first and then we looked at Newcastle to where we could cause them some problems. It was a good week, a usual week.

"We have to make ourselves independent from home and away games. We have to try and take points in every single game. Today we have an opponent we know very well, we played them twice last season. They have the same manager and a lot of players who played last season."

MAN IN THE MIDDLE

Our referee today is Craig Pawson who had a fairly eventful first game last weekend.

He sent off two Chelsea players as the champions spectacularly combusted against Burnley.

Chelsea's Gary Cahill is shown a red card by referee Craig Pawson for a challenge on Burnley's Steven Defour

RAFA

Who wants some pre-match Rafa?

Here's the Newcastle manager on why he's so animated on the touchline.

"You can change a game. Every manager can. One famous coach now, not famous then, said to me ‘You can do nothing, you do your work during the week and you’ve done your job’. And then you don’t need to say anything. He was a young coach then, now he’s a famous coach but now I see him working on the touchline!

"Can you change everything? No. Can you have an influence? Yes. Positive and sometimes negative."

Rafa Benitez, manager de Newcastle.

HOW DID THEY GET ON LAST TIME?

By contrast the home team tore Crystal Palace to pieces at Selhurst Park with Steve Mounie scoring a brace on debut as they won 3-0. He will be the danger man for Newcastle today.

HOW DID THEY GET ON LAST TIME?

It couldn't have been more contrasting opening day results for these two teams. Newcastle were badly let down by Shelvey's red card and they were totally outclassed by last season's runners-up Tottenham Hotspur.

Newcastle United's English midfielder Jonjo Shelvey (C) passes Tottenham Hotspur's Argentinian head coach Mauricio Pochettino (L) and Newcastle United's Spanish manager Rafael Benitez

NEWCASTLE TEAM NEWS

Three changes for Newcastle as Jamaal Lascelles comes in and captains the team in the place of Jonjo Shelvey. Mikel Merino makes his first start and replaces Shelvey in midfield. Chancel Mbemba also starts ahead of Florian Lejeune.

Elliot; Manquillo, Lascelles, Mbemba, Clark; Ritchie, Merino, Hayden, Atsu; Perez, Gayle

Merino will be interesting to watch given how well he played last week but Ciaran Clark could be vulnerable at left back with Pal Dummett out injured.

HUDDERSFIELD TEAM NEWS

Just one change for Huddersfield as Rajiv Van La Parra replaces Kasey Palmer, who did have to go off injured last week. He is fit enough for the bench.

Lossl; Smith, Schindler, Zanka, Lowe; Van La Parra, Billing, Mooy, Ince; Mounie, Kachunga

A strong team than Huddersfield and after last week they'll be fancying their chances.

WELCOME

Good afternoon and welcome to live coverage of Huddersfield Town's first ever Premier League home game as they welcome fellow newly promoted team Newcastle United.

Team news is on the way.
