Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are interested in Heung-min Son, while Raheem Sterling’s talks with Manchester City have been halted once more. It’s Tuesday’s Paper Round.

Wanted: Son

Heung-min Son is reportedly attracting interest from Bayern Munich. The Mirror are among the British papers to pick up on CalcioMercato’s claim that the Spurs winger is wanted by the Bundesliga champions. Son recently won Asian Games gold with South Korea, meaning he would be exempt from military service back in his home country.
Paper Round’s view: With Son available for the long-term, it will be interesting to see whether Spurs can hold on to their man. However, first he will have to displace Lucas Moura in the starting XI – no easy task, unless Mauricio Pochettino can find a way to play both.

Sterling talks reach stalemate

Manchester City’s talks with Raheem Sterling regarding a new contract have once more stalled, the Guardian reports. The winger’s current deal does not run out until the summer of 2020, but City are keen to tie him down for longer. The 23-year-old is said to want £220,000 a week, as he looks to become one of the club’s top earners.
Paper Round’s view: There is no real rush, but you imagine this is one City will want to get over the line by Christmas. His value will only fall in the summer if they remain at a deadlock, and the club will not want an Alexis Sanchez saga which Arsenal had to deal with for the best part of a year.

Arsenal expect Gazidis decision

Arsenal are hoping chief executive Ivan Gazidis will soon decide either way on whether he moves to AC Milan. The Serie A club are in advanced negotiations to bring Gazidis over to Italy, the Telegraph reports, having first shown their interest over the summer. Gazidis joined the Arsenal board back in 2009. Meanwhile, the Daily Mail are reporting that the move is pretty much done – on a £3.6m-a-year deal.
Paper Round’s view: It would be a strange time for leave having assumed more control after Arsene Wenger’s departure, but it could well be that money talks. Negotiations seemingly died down in the past few weeks, but the sign that they have reignited could only mean one thing. A far more attractive offer.

Wilshere out for a month

West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere is set to be out for at least a month after undergoing ankle surgery, the Daily Mail reports. The 26-year-old has been hampered by injuries throughout his career, and the latest setback will be a blow having left Arsenal in the summer to pursue first-team opportunities elsewhere.
Paper Round’s view: You have to feel for Wilshere, and also wonder whether he will be free of these problems. Every injury is a dent on his future England chances, while his club career could also become under threat if this continues. Hopefully not, for there is plenty of talent there, and he is still just 26!
