Pogba to leave for Real Madrid

The Sunday People believe that Paul Pogba's time at Manchester United could be up. Senior players and Jose Mourinho have been disappointed with his commitment to social media instead of giving his all for the team on the pitch. His sale, with Real Madrid interested, could be used to fund a £200m spending spree in the summer transfer window. Alex Sandro, Toni Kroos, Marco Verratti and Marquinhos are all targets that would give Mourinho reinforcements ahead of a new attempt on the title in 2018.

Paper Round's view: It seems unlikely that Pogba would be sold by Manchester United unless his relationship with Mourinho takes a serious turn for the worse - all other stories point to some tension but nothing that is permanently broken. For the list of targets mentioned, they seem like the kind of players who would fix United's problems at the back, while also giving Pogba the freedom he desires to spend more time attacking. Other player sales would likely raise the necessary funds.

PSG contact Antonio Conte

Paris Saint-Germain have begun talks with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte. Conte is expected to leave Chelsea after just two seasons, and PSG need a new manager as Unai Emery will be sacked in the summer despite being set to win Ligue Un. The French club have also considered Mourinho, but he will probably stay at Manchester United for at least another. They would be prepared to give Conte a raise from his £9.5m-a-season wages, making an offer of £10m a year for his services.

Paper Round's view: Conte has complained about a lack of funds holding him back at Chelsea, something that would be much less of a problem if he were to move to PSG. They might not be able to spend as much as the summer they agreed to bring in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, but there are plenty of squad players who could raise funds this summer before a huge splurge in 2019. It is, however, unclear if Conte has the tactical acumen to take the team any further in Europe than Emery did.

Liverpool set to give Salah a new contract

In the face of interest from Real Madrid, Liverpool are ready to offer Mo Salah a new £200,000-a-week deal to reward him for his excellent form this season. The 25-year-old Egyptian international has already scored 36 goals this season, and the Spanish club are interested in making him part of their summer rebuilding plans. However, Salah wants to stay and prove himself in the Premier League after a short time at Chelsea saw him leave for Roma before making his return to England.

Paper Round's view: Salah is reportedly not desperate to show off his talents in Spain, so Liverpool don't have to fear an exit similar to that of Philippe Coutinho, who left in the last winter transfer window. In order to challenge for trophies, Liverpool have to rely on seeing off the interests of richer clubs, and if their best player wants to stay for at least one more season, that should give them the chance to push on and challenge Manchester City, if they recruit well in the next transfer window.

Bellerin to stay at Arsenal

Hector Bellerin is likely to stay for at least one more season at Arsenal, according to his agent. He said it would be "difficult" for him to leave having recently signed a new deal and given he is featuring regularly on the pitch. There has been rumoured interest from Manchester United and the Italian champions, Juventus. However the agent did namecheck both Juventus and Napoli as clubs who would interest his client.

Paper Round's view: This is hardly a story to make Arsenal fans panic. Agents have to make it seem as if their clients are both happy at their existing clubs - so the fans don't get on Bellerin's back - and to let it be known that they will always be open to any big-money transfer move - so that they can retire rich. Bellerin does not seem to be agitating for a move yet but there is only so much mediocrity he will need to tolerate before jumping ship.
