Juventus face battle for Martial

Juventus have long been linked with a transfer move for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, reports The Sun. The French international's future is unclear, and Arsenal are another club who have an interest in the 22-year-old. However, a late entrant to the race is Lyon, who would offer Manchester United the chance to loan him to the French club for a season before making a deal permanent. They also have knowledge of buying from United after signing Memphis Depay.

Paper Round's view: It is hard to see what a loan deal would offer United. They would have to wait for a full season to get most of the transfer fee, something they may feel unable to do as they plan for reinforcements in the summer. However, when they let Depay go, they arranged a buy-back clause. A loan might be able to offer the same function, to give him a year away before bringing him back should he improve with regular first-team action.

Spurs and Chelsea face off for Kurzawa

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are both considering a bid for Layvin Kurzawa, according to The Mirror. The 25-year-old French international left-back could be available as PSG need to raise funds following the transfer of Kylian Mbappe, and last summer's £200m spent on Neymar. Chelsea want to add quality despite buying Emerson Palmieri, and with Marcos Alonso performing well, and Spurs need a new defender if Danny Rose leaves in the summer. Manchester United are also interested.

Paper Round's view: Kurzawa offers experience of top-flight football, but is young enough to improve over the coming years. He might not be the most impressive left-back in the world, with Sandro also interesting teams across Europe, but he is potentially available at a reduced price due to enforced selling at PSG this year. A good World Cup in Russia might convince more teams to enter the race for him, and drive up the price somewhat, so a quick transfer might be sensible.

Spurs eye Demarai Gray

Spurs failed with their attempt to sign Demarai Gray from Leicester City last season. The England Under-21 captain could, however, complete the move this summer. Gray has failed to earn regular starts under Claude Puel and is going to consider his future when the season ends. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants Gray to join because he believes he needs more options in attack, and wants a player young enough to improve under his coaching.

Paper Round's view: Demarai Gray has shown excellent technical ability, and has the maturity to lead the international under-21 side. However, if he wants to leave Leicester due to lack of first team opportunities, he might find himself with the same problems at the new White Hart Lane. There is plenty of quality at Spurs in attack, so unless he believes he will rapidly improve in a way he wouldn't with Leicester, this might not be the move that works best for him.

Chelsea turn to Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea are stepping up their hunt for a new manager. They are expected to pay off Antonio Conte's remaining £9m on his current deal, and may have to stump up £7m to release Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri from his contract. The Mail reports that Sarri wants to leave Italy at the end of the season, meaning he has attracted Chelsea's attention. Thomas Tuchel and Luis Enrique are under consideration, but Chelsea need a quick deal to expedite their transfer dealings in the summer.

Paper Round's view: Chelsea need to act quickly. If they cannot offer transfer targets stability then they will be left behind as those clubs who have their manager settled will be able to sign the summer's biggest players quickly. A late transfer dash leads to poor choices and higher transfer fees, something Roman Abramovich seems to find harder to accept these days. Sarri has done well in Italy this season, but with Juventus looking set to dominate into the next season, a change might well appeal.
