Record-breaker Harry Kane hits double as Tottenham smash Everton

Harry Kane struck a double to become Tottenham's all-time leading scorer in the Premier League as Everton were thumped 4-0 at Wembley.

The England striker tapped home two second-half efforts to surpass Teddy Sheringham's club record that had stood at 97, and take his tally to 20 league goals for the fourth season in a row.

The impressive Son Heung-Min had opened the scoring in the first-half as he notched for a fifth straight home league match, while Christian Eriksen put the seal on an emphatic success when he finished off a wonderful move nine minutes from time.

Son also hit the post as Spurs dominated throughout to comfortably move level on points with fourth-placed Liverpool.

Everton gave a debut to new £27m signing, Cenk Tosun, but the former Besiktas striker had little to work with as the ninth-placed Blues, who saw a header from Wayne Rooney correctly chalked off for offside, slumped to a fourth straight defeat.

The honeymoon period is over for Big Sam. The former England manager's appointment brought with it a much improved run of results from the Blues, allaying any fears they were in free-fall. Allardyce oversaw seven games of an eight-match unbeaten run - but the Toffees have now lost their last four in all competitions and are winless in six. Evertonians may have grudgingly accepted less attacking threat from their side in the short-term if they were to become harder to beat, but murmurs of frustration will grow after this embarrassment meaning the Blues' pursuit of Theo Walcott - to add to Tosun - will no doubt intensify. Kane's first goal to make it 2-0 may have looked offside, but that decision doesn't change the fact the Toffees were second best throughout.

Son Heung-Min (Tottenham). A real threat who often misses out on the plaudits that Kane, Eriksen and Alli get. Continued his fine form with another home goal and an assist to cap a lively, industrious display.

Kane surpassed Teddy Sheringham as Spurs' leading scorer in the Premier League with 98 goals.

Son Heung-Min became only the second player, after Jermain Defoe (Nov-Dec 2004), to score in five consecutive Premier League home matches for Tottenham.

Kane is only the third player to score at least 20 goals in four consecutive Premier League campaigns, after Thierry Henry (5) and Alan Shearer (4).

Dele Alli has provided seven assists in 22 Premier League games this season, equalling his tally from 2016-17 (7 assists in 37 apps).
