Juventus consider Pogba bid

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba could be granted his way out of Old Trafford, as his former club Juventus consider bringing him back. The Italian champions have been regularly linked with the World Cup winner, 25, and sporting director Fabio Paratici said: "A return? We have already discussed this many times. He's a great player we've had before and are fond of, but now he players for Manchester United.”

Paper Round’s view: Pogba’s displays this season have been absolutely atrocious, and it is doing his current club no good, nor is it helping his career to waste so much time and talent. A move back to Juventus could spark Pogba back into life.

Everton want Gomes bargain

Everton want to sign Andre Gomes permanently from Barcelona after he has impressed in his loan move from the Spanish club. The 25-year-old has been in excellent form, and has described his time in Barcelona as a ‘kind of hell’. There is no option for Everton to buy the player in the loan agreement, but they hope that Gomes’ reluctance to go back to his parent club will allow them to strike a cut-price deal for the player.

Paper Round’s view: At 25, Gomes is entering the prime of his career and he appears to be finding his best form again under Marco Silva. That may help him force through a move to Everton. However, with no agreement in place, his performances could attract some bigger clubs from across Europe and force his transfer fee upwards instead.

Guardiola targets Leeds teenager

Pep Guardiola has denied claims he will be active in the January transfer window, but The Sun has identified one player he might be interested in. He has been tracking 18-year-old winger Jack Clarke at Leeds United, who signed his first professional deal 13 months ago. His game-changing displays for Marcelo Bielsa’s side could have earned him a move to the Premier League.

Paper Round’s view: With only half the season left to play, Leeds will be reluctant to upset a side that could soon be back in the Premier League. They can also offer Clarke regular first-team football, something that is much more unlikely under Pep Guardiola. It may make sense to strike a deal with City to sell him, but keep him at the club for one more season so he can gain experience and minutes on the pitch, and help Leeds both reach the Premier League and then stay there.

Henry wants Okaka at Monaco

Thierry Henry is chasing reinforcements at Monaco as they bid to stay in Ligue 1. The principality are struggling near the bottom of the table, and Henry wants Watford striker Stefano Okaka, who is out of favour at Vicarage Road. However, Henry faces competition from Besiktas and the 29-year-old has also been linked with a move to Fulham under former manager Claudio Ranieri - who he played for at Roma.

Paper Round’s view: Given Okaka is well down the pecking order in Watford, it seems that he could be available for a cut-price fee. Monaco are struggling for cash at the moment and generally hunt for younger bargains, but with the situation desperate they appear to need anyone with top-flight experience to help them claw their way out of trouble.
