Phil Foden and Aaron Ramsey attract interest from abroad, Jack Butland aims to get back to the Premier League, and N'Golo Kante is wanted by Paris Saint-Germain.

Dortmund and others chase Foden

Manchester City could lose another youngster to the continent. Jadon Sancho has flourished at Borussia Dortmund and is set to become a full England international, while former team-mate Phil Foden is only in the England Under-21s. Foden is attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund, with RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain also keeping an eye on him. The 18-year-old is still expected to sign with City when a new contract is agreed.

Paper Round’s view: Foden is clearly not as exciting as Sancho, who has the bravery to embrace a new country to secure first-team football. Foden is however hugely promising, and he will have to work out if he will be one of the few youngsters given a chance by Spanish manager Pep Guardiola, or if he trusts his own talent and moves away.

Butland aims for Premier League return

Jack Butland is aiming to secure a return to the Premier League after failing to move from Stoke City - now in the Championship - in the summer transfer window. Butland, 25, has swapped agencies. He is now with Triple S Sports and Entertainment, having left Beswicks Sports. The move is not yet formalised, but the swap to the agency that oversaw Wayne Rooney’s career, could help him get back to the top flight.

Paper Round’s view: Butland is one of the best English keepers around, but Jordan Pickford has a stolen a march on him in the pursuit of becoming the long term first choice for Gareth Southgate. With the January transfer window, if Stoke are not close to securing a return to the Premier League, he could attempt to force his way out to another team in need of a decent keeper.

Ramsey is second choice for Juventus

Aaron Ramsey has long been linked with a free transfer move to Juventus next summer, but he may miss out on a switch to the Italian champions. The 27-year-old is wanted by Juventus, but only if they are unable to secure Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a similar deal. Ramsey is also wanted by AC Milan, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Paper Round’s view: Rabiot is young, better and smarter than Ramsey on the football pitch, so Juventus are right to invest their energy in securing the French international. Only if Ramsey can deliver his first full consistent full season would he be considered the superior option, and the chances of him adapting to Italian football are slim. It is probably best that he stays in England.

Kante in line for new contract

If Rabiot does leave for Juventus, that would force Paris Saint-Germain to re-evaluate their chase for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante. The 27-year-old has three years left on his current deal, but PSG could make the French international a huge offer. Maurizio Sarri has made Kante an ever-present this season and so Chelsea could offer him a new deal in order to secure his future.

Paper Round’s view: Kante is the kind of signing that PSG rarely make - a player who avoids the limelight whose only interest is being as good as he can be. It is that kind of player who is needed to build a great team, and might help them challenge in Europe as well as at home. Chelsea - or any team - could ill-afford to lose such a reliable and effective player.
