Lucas Moura bagged a brace as Tottenham scored three second half goals to beat Manchester United 3-0 and crank up the pressure on Jose Mourinho.
The United boss made six changes to the side which had a nightmare day by the seaside at Brighton last weekend with Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera, Phil Jones and Antonio Valencia among the players returning but it was the same story.
They should have broken the deadlock with Romelu Lukaku missing an open goal after running on to Danny Rose’s hospital pass and rounding Hugo Lloris while the Belgian also spurned two other chances.

Spurs, who recalled Mousa Dembele and Rose, eventually found their rhythm led by the electric Moura. The Brazilian should have been awarded a penalty when he was barged over by Jones after a mazy run.
The game turned in the space of 133 seconds in the second half, even shorter than Mourinho’s pre-match press conference.
First, Harry Kane beat the challenge of Jones to head in a corner past the static David De Gea. Then Christian Eriksen found himself in acres of space down the right to put in a low cross for Moura to steer the ball in first time.

Mourinho brought on Alexis Sanchez, Marouane Fellaini and Victor Lindelof, in place of the injured Jones, but the response was meek with the home side still in a state of shock.
And Moura added to their Bank Holiday blues by bursting past Chris Smalling in the latter stages to score the visitors' third for their first win at the Theatre of Dreams under Mauricio Pochettino.
They are now second in the table on goal difference behind Liverpool and remain unbeaten, while United slump to 13th.

TALKING POINT

Is Mourinho's ‘third season syndrome’ in full force? No quickfire press conferences and complaints about the lack of signings can distract from the fact that United are heading in the wrong direction. The Portuguese coach made six changes looking for a response. But the defensive frailties were exposed again just like against Brighton. This is following the script of Mourinho’s final season at Chelsea in 2015 when he was sacked in December.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Lucas Moura (Spurs): The Brazilian’s pace has never been in doubt but there have been question marks about his end product. But he was on song at Old Trafford, giving Jones, Smalling and Lindelof the run around. He should have been awarded a penalty and capped off his performance with a well taken first goal and a breathtaking second.

PLAYER RATINGS

Manchester United: De Gea 5, Jones 5, Matic 5, Smalling 6, Valencia 5, Fred 5, Herrera 4, Pogba 5, Shaw 7, Lingard 6, Lukaku 4. Subs: Lindelof 3, Sanchez 5, Fellaini 6.
Tottenham: Lloris 7, Trippier 7, Vertonghen 7, Alderweireld 7, Rose 5, Dier 5, Dembele 5, Moura 10, Eriksen 7, Alli 6, Kane 8. Subs: Aurier n/a, Davies n/a, Winks n/a.

KEY MOMENTS:

16’ - LUKAKU MISS! Hospital ball from Rose back to the keeper, straight into the path of Lukaku who rounds the keeper but puts it wide from a tight angle. It was an open goal!
29’ - PENALTY APPEAL! Moura bulldozes his way past three players and is brought down in the box by Jones but the ref waves play on. Replays showed that should have been a penalty with Jones barging over the Brazilian.
34’ - DOUBLE CHANCE! Lingard tees up Pogba whose side-footer is parried, Valencia plays it back in and Matic's deflected effort goes agonisingly wide.
50’ - GOAL FOR SPURS! Trippier's corner finds Kane whose header floats into the corner, that was all about the placement.
52’ - GOAL FOR SPURS! Eriksen has acres of space down the right, his low cross is converted by Moura first time. Easy as you like!
84’ - GOAL FOR SPURS! Moura with a breathtaking run past Smalling before arrowing the ball past De Gea.

KEY STATS

Harry Kane is the first Spurs player to score a Premier League goal at Old Trafford since Christian Eriksen in January 2014.
Manchester United conceded as many goals today as they had in their previous 5 matches at Old Trafford in the league.
