United are in the market for a centre-half, and have turned to Maguire as their top target having apparently been personally rebuffed by Jerome Boateng of Bayern Munich, but may have to go as far as £80m to tempt Leicester to sell on the final day of the summer transfer window.
Maguire impressed in his first season at Leicester, starting all 38 league matches for the Foxes last term as the club finished ninth in the league. His performances earned him an England call-up for the World Cup in Russia.
The 25-year-old put in a strong show in England's run to the World Cup semi-finals, featuring in all seven of their matches at the tournament.

United have already had two bids turned down for Maguire, and they are expected to launch another assault on Leicester with a bid surpassing their second of £60m. The third bid could well be worth £80m and break Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk's £75m move from Southampton as the most expensive defender of all time.
Maguire could try and push the move through himself by handing in a written transfer request, but even that may jot help his cause with Claude Puel and Leicester's dogged stubbornness.

But speculation surrounding Maguire's future have escalated with deals for Dinamo Zagreb's Filip Benkovic and Freiburg's Caglar Soyuncu - both centre-backs - also reported to be close to finalisation.
But United will keep using their financial firepower to try and lure Maguire to Old Trafford, and the Yorkshireman is keen on the move and could well push for a deal to be done before the 5pm transfer deadline on Thursday.
