And so both teams have to make do with a point apiece. The final result was probably a fair one. Both Arsenal and Liverpool had their chances. Emery changed the game by throwing on Iwobi and Welbeck. The Gunners have made some real progress in recent weeks and it showed in that performance.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool
- OffMohamed SalahLiverpool
- OnJoel MatipLiverpool
A late, late change by Klopp and it's Matip on for Salah. Settling up.
Mane would have been through! That was a chance for Liverpool to get Mane through, but Holding makes the crucial interception to stop Salah's pass from finding the winger.
There's certainly still time for one of these two teams to grab a winner. It's Arsenal who have the ball at the moment. They're the ones probing for a way through this Liverpool defence.
Alexander-Arnold gets forward on a run deep into the Arsenal half, but he looks up and there's nobody with him. It seems that Liverpool are shutting up shop for a point.
FIVE minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
This game certainly feels like it has another goal left in it. Both teams are still getting forward as quickly and as frequently as they can. Arsenal maybe just about have the edge right now.
It was his wrong foot! That was a chance for Bellerin just inside the box, but he gets it all wrong and skews wide. It was his left foot rather than his right one. Couldn't he have taken a touch?
Arsenal are the ones who have their tails up now. The introduction of Welbeck off the bench has made a difference. Would Klopp take a point now if he was offered it?
Mane over! That would have been an instant response from Liverpool, with the Reds bursting up the pitch on the counter. The ball was played to Mane on the edge of the box, but he shoots just over.
- OffSead KolašinacArsenal
- OnDanny WelbeckArsenal
Just before the equaliser, Welbeck was thrown on for the Gunners. He made a difference with his decoy run.
- GoalAlexandre LacazetteArsenal
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Arsenal 1 (82 mins - Alexandre Lacazette) Liverpool 1. Lacazette has fired home an equaliser! What a finish that was from the Frenchman! Alisson must have thought that he'd narrowed the angle, but somehow Lacazette managed to curl a finish into the far corner of the net!
- OffRoberto FirminoLiverpool
- OnXherdan ShaqiriLiverpool
Liverpool make their first change of the match and it's Shaqiri on for Firmino.
Was the decision to take off Aubameyang really so wise? It just seems that Arsenal don't really have the numbers in attack that they had when the former Dortmund striker was on.
That's twice now that Iwobi has got to the byline and crosses into the box, only to find that there is nobody in there to get on the end of his delivery. The crowd are growing frustrated.
Iwobi crosses! The winger gets to the byline and fizzes a cross right across the face of goal, but there was nobody in a red and white shirt in the middle to get on the end of it.
Van Dijk header saved! That probably should have been a second goal for Liverpool. Van Dijk was completely free from the corner kick, but Lenon pushes his powerful header over.
- OffPierre-Emerick AubameyangArsenal
- OnAaron RamseyArsenal
Ramsey comes on for Aubameyang. The striker clearly isn't happy with that decision from his manager.
Header wide! Liverpool have their foot on the accelerator now. Firmino gets his head on the end of a corner kick from Milner, but his header bounces wide of the far post. What a chance.
Just too strong! That could have been a second goal for Liverpool. Salah was looking for Mane at the back post, but the pass was just a little too strong and the winger couldn't reach it on the slide.
- OffHenrikh MkhitaryanArsenal
- OnAlex IwobiArsenal
Here's the change we've been talking about for a while, with Iwobi coming on for Mkhitaryan.
So how will Arsenal respond to falling behind? They have probably created the better of the scoring opportunities, but have shown very little in the way of finishing instinct.
Milner is down! That was a clash of heads between the Liverpool captain and... I think it was Gomez, his own player. Milner might have to come off here. He's receiving treatment.
Torreira denied! It opened up for the Uruguayan on the edge of the Liverpool box, getting the powerful shot away on goal. But Alisson makes the save to deny the midfielder.
Leno has had such a mixed game. He has been crucial in the way that Arsenal want to play out from the back, but he has been rash in coming off his line a couple times and that time it cost his side.
That's a hammer blow for Arsenal. Liverpool hadn't really been in the game since the start of the second half, but they have taken their chance when it came to them. They have a 1-0 lead.
- GoalJames MilnerLiverpool
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Arsenal 0 Liverpool 1 (61 mins - James Milner). Liverpool have taken the lead and it's Milner! The goalkeeper gave him a helping hand, though... literally. Mane's cross is palmed out to Milner by Leno and the midfielder puts his foot through the ball and finds the back of the Arsenal net.
Emery is gesturing to the crowd to get up and support their team. The Spaniard is pretty much the complete opposite to the way Wenger was as a character down on the touchline.
Crowded out! Milner clips a pass into Firmino, who takes the ball on his chest. But Arsenal do enough to crowd the Liverpool forward off the ball and Leno gathers in the end.
Liverpool created goalscoring opportunities in the first half, but they have struggled in that regard since the restart. Firmino has been quiet and is now dropping deeper to get the ball.
Mkhitaryan just did enough to put the ball out of play under pressure from Mane. Liverpool would have been in the clear had Mane managed to get there first. Dangerous.
Klopp will want more control from his team in this second half, but while Liverpool are seeing plenty of the ball they are not looking after it very well. They're losing it under pressure.
Surely it won't be long until Fabinho comes off? The Brazilian has had a really poor game. Arsenal are hunting him down and forcing him into mistakes. He looks off the pace.
- Yellow cardFabinhoLiverpool
Fabinho is shown the first yellow card of the match and he can have no complaints. That had been coming.
Mkhitaryan was in! Oh that was a chance for the Armenian. He was too slow to get the pass away to Aubameyang, who was free on the other side of the box, and Van Dijk makes the tackle.
Of course, Liverpool should probably be ahead. They had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half when, in actual fact, Mane was onside when the second phase of play became active.
Arsenal were on top at the end of the first half, but then a gaffe by Leno almost allowed Liverpool to take the lead, with Van Dijk hitting the post with a late header from a freekick.
No changes made by either manager. Mkhitaryan has been poor for Arsenal, so it had been suggested that Iwobi could come on for the Armenian at the break, but that hasn't happened.
Some stats from the first half...
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way! It's still goalless between Arsenal and Liverpool.
What did you make of the first half at the Emirates Stadium? Should Arsenal be ahead? Should Mane's goal have stood? Does Klopp need to make any changes? Tweet me!
- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Arsenal 0-0 Liverpool. An exhilarating half of football comes to a close, but we are still waiting for the deadlock to be broken. Not quite sure how there hasn't been a goal yet.
Off the post! Leno is NOWHERE near the ball as Milner floats a freekick into the box, Van Dijk gets to it first and his header strikes the post with the goal gaping. Got away with it!
Mkhitaryan is having a poor game, while the rest of the Arsenal team around him are playing quite well. Could we see a change at the break? Maybe Iwobi? Or would that be too harsh?
It's Arsenal who are on top at the end of the first half. Liverpool are struggling to get on the ball at the moment. They might actually be quite happy to get into half time at 0-0.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... NO! Arsenal have now had a goal chalked off. Mustafi heads across goal to the back post, with Lacazette smashing home. But the flag is up for offside against Mustafi.
Across the face! Inches away from being an opener for Arsenal. Ozil's flick for Lacazette was exceptional, but the French striker strikes across the face of goal and just wide of the far post.
Arsenal are so quick to get the ball forward. Remember that cliche about Arsenal wanting to walk the ball into the net? That's a thing of the past. They just want to score as quickly as they can!
Klopp has been unchallenged as the most animated manager in the Premier League, but he might now have some competition from Emery. The Arsenal boss is talking to himself and waving his arms. Constantly.
Leno has been very impressive in helping Arsenal to play out from the back. Why did it take so long for Emery to install the German as his number one given Cech's early season troubles?
Aubameyang wide! Arsenal come flying up the pitch on the rapid counter attack, with Aubameyang winding up the shot from the edge of the box. He drags his effort wide, though.
Of course, the decision to chalk off Mane's goal will only increase claims that VAR should be introduced into the Premier League. That would have cleared up the Liverpool goal.
It's goalless, but this has been a compelling game so far. None of this 'tactical battle' nonsense. It's just been an entertaining match to watch. Both teams going on the attack.
No takers! Kolasinac gets to the byline and fires a cross into the box. Alisson's punch lands at the feet of Mkhitaryan, but the Armenian just can't gather the ball. Kolasinac should have pulled it back.
This has turned into a pretty decent game. It's been played at a really fast pace from the first whistle and now both teams are starting to create goalscoring opportunities. Breakthrough coming?
Was always going wide! Bellerin runs on to a ball about 20 yards out and gets the shot away. But he slices across it and the ball flashes wide. Alisson was never really worried about that.
Now Robertson takes aim! The Liverpool left back was up providing an option out wide. The ball makes it way out to the Scot, but his driven shot is straight at Leno in the Arsenal goal.
Huge Leno save! Van Dijk takes a lofted pass on his chest and gets the shot away on the volley from about 10 yards out. But Leno comes off his line to smother the shot and Mustafi clears.
Good tackle! Salah was in a dangerous position for Liverpool. He cut back inside the box to play the pass, but Xhaka had tracked back and made the sliding tackle. Well played.
So Arsenal got away with one there. The goal, had it stood, would have come against the run of play, but that illustrates just how dangerous Liverpool are in the final third.
Looking at the replays... the Liverpool goal should have stood. Mane was offside in the first phase of play, but was behind the ball in the second phase. The visitors should be ahead.
Goal chalked off! Liverpool have the ball in the back of the net, but it won't count. Firmino was played in, hits the bar with a chip and then Mane finishes on the rebound. He was offside, though.
Arsenal have taken a grip of this game in the last five minutes or so. They have created a couple of early opportunities. Aubameyang in particular is causing Liverpool problems.
Alisson didn't get there! Aubameyang picked out Mkhitaryan with an excellent cross, the Armenian got there first, but he flicks his header wide of the target with the Liverpool goalkeeper nowhere.
Side netting! Liverpool give up the ball inside their own half, with Aubameyang slotted through. His shot picks up a deflection of Gomez and the ball spins into the side netting. Alisson relieved.
Mustafi needs a moment to gather himself. The Arsenal centre back seemed to be trodden on by Robertson. He'll be fine to continue, but is taking about 20 seconds to feel his toe to make sure it's still there.
The tempo of this game in the opening 10 minutes or so has been very high, as we all thought it might be. Having said that, there hasn't been a great deal of quality so far.
This has been a decent start from Arsenal, which isn't something that has been said about them very often this season. Their first half performances, generally, haven't been great.
Chance for Liverpool! Salah comes flying down the right side for the away side, breaking into the box. He cuts back and sets up Wijnaldum, but Kolasinac gets a toe on it just in time.
It's notable that Arsenal are looking for Aubameyang out on the left side pretty much every time they get the ball on the counter attack. That's something they've worked on.
This is already shaping up to be a cracker of a game. Both teams have so much pace and potency on the attack. I think we're all expecting goals from this one. Stay tuned...
The Emirates Stadium isn't always known for its atmosphere, but it's loud early on here. The Arsenal fans want a statement performance, and result, from their team this evening.
Alisson save! An early chance for Arsenal, who have started well. Kolasinac gets to the byline and sends a low cross into the near post. Lacazette flicks it towards goal, but the save is made.
Offside! Just for a moment it looked like Aubameyang was in behind the Liverpool defence, getting on the end of a pass from Ozil. But the flag was up and he was JUST off.
- 1st Half
The match is under way! It's Arsenal against Liverpool in the Premier League.
Okay, here we go. About to get under way at the Emirates!
We're going to have a moment of Remembrance here for the fallen. It's also to remember the five people who tragically died in the Leicester City helicopter crash.
The teams are out at the Emirates. The two sets of fans, and the neutrals, are ready for this one.
Not long until kick off at the Emirates Stadium now. This is the game of the weekend in the Premier League. Should be a good one.
Litmus test! Arsenal have looked impressive in recent weeks, but they have only faced teams they have been expected to beat. This game will show how far they have really come.
Also unbeaten! Of course, Arsenal aren't the only team in form. Liverpool come into this game having yet to experience defeat in any of their opening 10 Premier League fixtures.
Unbeaten! Arsenal came into this game unbeaten in all competitions since losing to Chelsea in the second game of the season. That's a total of 13 games in all. Pretty impressive.
This will surely be the match of the weekend in the Premier League. Arsenal and Liverpool tend to produce good games and they have both been in good form this season.
Changes! Klopp has stuck by his favoured 4-3-3 formation, but there's no Shaqiri for Liverpool, with Fabinho in for the injured Henderson in the centre of the midfield.
Bellerin is back! The Spanish right back is fit again and so he's back in the Arsenal team, with Kolasinac also fit for the Gunners. That means Xhaka doesn't have to play at left back.
