Mane powers beyond Christensen into the left side of the area and thunders in a rising strike that Kepa is forced to push over the top.

Kepa has a nightmare trying to deal with a hoisted clearance by van Dijk. Mane chases the loose ball, but runs out of pitch in front of the Kop. That's a let off for the Chelsea keeper.

Robertson slips inside his own half.... but Chelsea can't take advantage.

Cue mentions of that Gerrard slip five years ago.

As it stands, Liverpool will move two points clear of Man City at the top. The Citizens still have a game in hand though.

Chelsea will stay fourth, two points ahead of Man United in fifth, but having played a game more - and two more - than Arsenal.

What a contrast to the first half. That was tight an cagey. This one is end to end with plenty of incident in both goalmouths.

Wijnaldum is being readied by Liverpool. Klopp is obviously keen to get more control in midfield as Chelsea are having far too much joy since that second Reds goal.

Chelsea have looked far more of a threat with Higuain on. It's given Hazard the freedom to play off a main forward.

Hazard can't quite believe he hasn't reduced the arrears here.

SAVE! Liverpool get lucky once more as Hazard is left free in the area, but sees his effort from close range somehow blocked by Alisson.

That's a big let off for Liverpool. They have their tails up in attack, but need to stay concentrated at the back. It was simple ball over the top that caught them completely cold there.

OFF THE POST! Hazard seizes on a ball over the top. He's clear on Alisson but sees his low shot come back off the post.

Firmino takes aim from 25 yards and sees his pile-driver flash inches wide of the far post. It's all Liverpool.

KICK OFF! Chelsea get the second half underway. Liverpool will attack the Kop end and know this is a HUGE 45 minutes in their title tilt.

  • End of 1st Half

HT: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea.

As it stands, City would stay top on goal difference, but Guardiola's men still have that game in hand. Chelsea would remain fourth.

Three minutes added.

Kepa makes a smart save to keep out Firmino's flick from Alexander-Arnold's sublime left-wing free kick.

The flag was up so it wouldn't have counted, but that was some delivery from the Reds' right back.

Alisson's weak clearance falls kindly for Loftus-Cheek. He finds Willian who exchanges a one-two with Kante before seeing a tame long-range drive hit a defender. Liverpool eventually clear.

The first murmurs of nerves from the stands are creeping in at Anfield.

CHELSEA CHANGE: Christensen on for the injured Rudiger.

Rudiger is down again. It looks like he'll have to come off.

CLOSE! Salah rampages in from the right and lays the ball into the path of Mane, who flashes a first-time effort on the run a few yards wide of Kepa's left-hand post.

Hazard jinks at three Liverpool defenders. He's all alone, but more than capable of going solo...

But Fabinho continues his impressive start and nicks the ball off the Chelsea talisman 22 yards from goal. That was an important intervention from the midfielder.

Firmino and Salah have contrasting fortunes in recent times at Anfield. The Brazilian has scored 7 goals in his last 6 Premier League home appearances while Salah has not scored in his last five L4 outings.

The Egyptian has had Liverpool's best chance so far.

Liverpool probing almost all of the time, but they've not really created much in terms of actual chances so far.

Luiz breaks up a Liverpool attack and sets Willian free. The Brazilian jinks inside into a central area but hammers his 20-yard shot wide of Alisson's left-hand post.

A succession of Liverpool corners are well defended by the visiting rearguard, but the Merseysiders keep the pressure on.

Salah nods Fabinho's high ball down for Henderson, who sees his 18-yard drive deflect wide.

Liverpool-Chelsea Salah and William

DID YOU KNOW? Cesar Azpilicueta is the only player to appear in all of Chelsea's league games this season.

Play resumes. Rudiger holds his knee gingerly but seems set to continue.

Rudiger is down and in need of some attention. Here come the Chelsea physios again.

Danger for the hosts. Hazard spins into space on the far left of the Liverpool box. He twists and turns beyond Matip but sees his low drive from a narrow angle easily covered by Alisson.

Keita stabs a tame outside of the foot cross into the six-yard box that Kepa easily claims after Alexander-Arnold had found the midfielder with a brilliant crossfield pass.

Emerson is well positioned to nod clear after Robertson had looked to pick out Firmino's far-post run.

It's pretty much been all Liverpool so far. Chelsea content to try and soak up the pressure and use the pace of the forward three to counter when they can.

Salah dances beyond Willian on the right flank. He wriggles to the byline but makes the wrong choice trying to edge past Luiz. Goal kick to the visitors. Salah chose the wrong option opting not to cross that.

VIDEO: Salah goes close.

Hazard grimaces as he trudges to the touchline, but will be fine to continue.

Hazard goes down and needs some treatment after being caught by the long leg of Fabinho as he looked to burst clear.

RIP Tommy Smith.

STAT: Chelsea have lost their last five away league games against teams from the established top six. The Blues have shipped 14 goals in that time.

Salah meets Mane's left-wing cross with a miscued volley that flies straight at Kepa. He'd love to have that one back.

Liverpool have made a hungry start here. Both sets of supporters are in strong voice. The visiting fans are singing about Gerrard's slip, while the home faithful have launched a couple of renditions of Chelsea's lack of history.

Klopp has overseen 111 victories, with 51 draws and 37 defeats. Only Kenny Dalglish (118) and Rafa Benitez (115) have overseen more wins at this stage of their time in the Reds' dugout.

HEAD-TO-HEAD at Anfield: Liverpool 46 wins, 18 draws, Chelsea 11 wins.

In the PL era in L4: Liverpool have won 13, drawn seven and lost six.

KICK OFF! Liverpool get this much-anticipated contest underway attacking the Anfield Road end.

Ahead of kick off, Liverpool are paying tribute to the 96 fans who lost their lives prior to the 30th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster on Monday, as well as the sad passing of club legend, Tommy Smith earlier in the week.

STAT: Six of Chelsea's 11 league wins at Anfield have come in the last 15 seasons. Prior to that the Blues had managed just five victories in their previous 62 visits.

DID YOU KNOW? Liverpool have not won a league match at home to Chelsea since May 2012. Indeed, the Reds have not defeated the Blues in eight L4 encounters in all competitions, drawing five and losing three.

Chelsea's players celebrate their 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield.

RED-HOT HAZARD: Hazard has been directly involved in 28 Premier League goals this term, notching 16 for himself and setting up 12. That's more anyone else heading into this weekend's matches.

Liverpool are well aware of the threat posed by Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard

Man City have just moved back to the top of the table ahead of this clash at Anfield.

The Citizens won 3-1 at Palace to edge a point clear of the Reds having both played 33 matches. It adds more pressure to this heavyweight clash for Liverpool, who know they cannot really afford any type of slip up.

Maurizio Sarri: "We know well the risks of this match but we also know that when we are able to play at 100% of our potential, we can gain points anywhere. We are in a very good physical and mental condition right now."

Jurgen Klopp: "I feel the positive energy. It's a massive change from surprise we are up there to getting used to it and getting more confident."

He added: "We really feel as one with the supporters as a whole group. You don't walk alone, you're never alone in these situations. We are trying to keep this dream alive and at the moment it's all good."

The relentless pressure of the Premier League title race could bring out the best in Liverpool according to a Reds legend.

Both Gonzalo Higuain and Olivier Giroud are on the bench for Chelsea, which means Eden Hazard could be deployed as a false No.9 with support from Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

David Luiz, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, N'Golo Kante and Emerson all start as Maurizio Sarri makes six changes to the side that edged to a 1-0 victory at Slavia Prague in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Liverpool make two changes from the side that beat FC Porto in midweek. Andy Robertson returns from a European suspension to reclaim the left back berth, while Joel Matip replaces Dejan Lovren alongside Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the Reds' defence.

After a slow start, Andy Robertson is now a key player for Jurgen Klopp (Anthony Devlin/PA).

CONFIRMED TEAMS - LIVERPOOL: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Keita, Mane, Firmino, Salah... Hello and welcome to LIVE updates of what could be a significant clash in this season's Premier League title race. Liverpool host Chelsea hoping to maintain their push for a first championship since 1990.

The encounter will no doubt conjure up memories of the last time these sides met in a similar scenario, when the Merseysiders saw their title hopes come unstuck back in 2014. Jose Mourinho's men upset Steven Gerrard and Co then - but can Eden Hazard inspire the Blues to ensure lightning strikes twice today and bolster their own top four bid? Kick off 16:30 BST.
