Manchester United want £150m for Marcus Rashford, Crystal Palace set the price for Wilfried Zaha, Napoli want Kieran Trippier, and Hakim Ziyech could leave Ajax.

Barcelona give up Rashford interest

Spanish champions Barcelona have abandoned their plans to sign Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford. The 21-year-old England international has one year left on his current deal, but United can extend it by a further 12 months. He is currently in a stand-off with his current club as he demands a deal worth £200,000 a week. Barcelona, though, are unwilling to meet the £150 million fee that would be demanded if he was to leave United, says the Express.

Paper Round's view: Rashford clearly has enormous talent, and his career would benefit from working with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez - if only from the professional side of things. Barcelona have three of the best strikers in the world, and while there's a decent chance that Rashford will become one in time, if they are to spend more than £100 million then they need a more consistent performer.

Palace name their price for Zaha

Crystal Palace are resigned to losing Wilfried Zaha this summer, reports the Mail. The club do not want to lose him on the cheap though, and are seeking £75-80 million for the 26-year-old winger. That will probably rule out both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, though both Manchester City and United could step up. Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan are also both interested in taking the player to experience Champions League football. That would make it difficult for Palace to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the same window.
Paper Round's view: That is a fair price for Zaha, whose technical ability makes him one of the best forwards outside the top six clubs. Add to that his Premier League experience, and his current club are asking for a fair fee. This is probably his last summer to push through a transfer and learn from players who have more ability than he does, because at 26 he is on the cusp of becoming too old to improve by a great deal more.

Napoli priced out of Trippier signing

Italian club Napoli may be priced out of a move for Kieran Tripper, according to the Sun. Tottenham Hotspur are considering raising funds by selling both Trippier, 28, and 26-year-old Serge Aurier. While they only want around £15 million for Aurier, Spurs are asking for £40 million for Trippier, who is also wanted by Everton. That is too much for Napoli, who have around half that to spend on a right-sided defender.

Paper Round's view: Italian clubs still operate on a much reduced budget compared to most of the Premier League's biggest side, and necessarily have to look for bargains instead of paying high fees for players with only a few years left in their career. Trippier has disappointed so far this season after an impressive World Cup, so Mauricio Pochettino might have decided it is time to move him on and focus on a younger replacement.

Teams chase Ajax playmaker Ziyech

Following the transfer of Frenkie de Jong, and the likely transfer of Matthijs de Ligt, the next player to leave Ajax could be Hakim Ziyech, claims the Mirror. The 26-year-old Moroccan playmaker is attracting interest as he is available for just £25 million, and Manchester City are considering him as a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan, who seems unlikely to sign a new deal at the Etihand. Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also interested.

Paper Round's view: Ajax's squad have enjoyed a brilliant season so far, and there is a fair chance that they can squeeze through their semi-final with Spurs to reach the Champions League final. It is no surprise that bigger clubs are looking to strip the club for parts in the summer, and at just £25 million then Ziyech is perhaps the biggest bargain going.
