Tottenham Hotspur’s all-new stadium will make no difference to players if the club can’t match their wage demands, says boss Mauricio Pochettino, as the team prepares to move back to their North London home.

The 62,000-seater venue has been praised by many who have had a sneak preview ahead of Spurs’ first Premier League home game at the stadium, which is due to take place on Wednesday against visitors Crystal Palace. However, Pochettino admits that players’ priorities lie elsewhere.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the club’s game against Liverpool on Sunday, Pochettino told reporters: “You must convince people to stay or sign for your club and, of course, the new stadium makes Tottenham more attractive today.

“Five years ago, when I we arrived here, everyone said if we want to attract better players or keep our best players you need to play in the Champions League. But, in the end, that was wrong.
“Football is changing and there aren’t too many romantic people in business like they were 30 years ago.
“There are a lot of people around that care more about the business rather than the capability to be in a very good place.”
However, after a bruising league run that saw his side all but give up any shot at the Premier League title, this season, he said that the new stadium provided “massive” motivation.
He added: “We’re going to play in the best stadium in the world and everyone deserves for us to be at our best.”
As they face table-toppers Liverpool on Sunday, Spurs currently sit in third place in the league. Having squandered their previously strong position they now find themselves under pressure, with just three points between them and fifth-place Manchester United.
