Paper Round: Chelsea confident over £30m Callum Wilson
Chelsea want Callum Wilson but Ruben Loftus-Cheek may go the other way, Antonio Valencia could leave in January, and Denis Suarez could join Arsenal.
Chelsea confident over Wilson
Maurizio Sarri is confident of bringing Callum Wilson to Chelsea from Bournemouth. The new England international has eight goals in 15 games this season, as well as five assists. Having seen Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata struggle in attack, Sarri wants a new option in attack, and £30 million should be enough to bring in the 26-year-old.

Paper Round’s view: Eddie Howe understandably wants to keep hold of Wilson, given they are not assured of Premier League survival, and because finding a regular source of goals in the top flight is a rare success. If he does leave, Howe needs to make sure that he can reallocate the money effectively, because the wrong signing could derail his whole season.
Valencia to quit United
Manchester United club captain Antonio Valencia is set to quit the club in the January transfer window after having little hope of repairing his relationship with Jose Mourinho. The two fell out when Valencia liked an Instagram post calling for Mourinho to be sacked, and has largely been frozen out of the side despite offering an apology. West Ham and La Liga are possible destinations.

Paper Round’s view: Valencia has been a steady if disappointing presence at right-back for the past few years. He should have been replaced long ago, and his failure to learn how to use his left foot is an indictment of his approach to the game. He might be leaving because of an Instagram post, but he should be leaving for plenty of football reasons already.
Arsenal offered Suarez by Barcelona
Arsenal have been offered Denis Suarez by Barcelona, and they could move for him as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey. Suarez could leave in January after being told he can go by Barcelona, and has been offered to Premier League sides for just £14 million. Emery could bring the player, who he had on loan at Sevilla, to the Emirates.

Paper Round’s view: Suarez is a talented player, but at 24 he needs to get regular game time if his career is not to fall away. At £14m it is not much of a risk for Arsenal to take him to London this winter and give him six months to impress and to settle into life in the Premier League. If he does not make a go of the transfer, Arsenal could quickly move him on again.
Fight for Loftus-Cheek
Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be in demand in the winter transfer window. Both Bournemouth and West Ham want the 22-year-old to join on loan in January, with a view to completing a permanent deal in the summer. They will offer Loftus-Cheek regular football at a time when he is struggling to get minutes at Stamford Bridge, with West Ham giving him the chance to stay in London.

Paper Round’s view: As an England international, Loftus-Cheek cannot afford to lose his place because he can’t find his way to regular minutes on the pitch. He would be the best midfielder at both West Ham at Bournemouth, and it may take only a couple of years in order for him to earn a move back to the top four or abroad.
