Former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o has vowed to help the ex-captain of his national team Cameroon after a documentary revealed he is now homeless.
Norbert Owona has been living on the streets of Cameroon's largest city, Douala, and complained of "living like an animal" to government ministers in Cameroon.
The 67-year-old played for Cameroon in the 1960s and 1970s, and is one of a number of former players for the national side who fell into difficulties after their professional careers ended.
Having been admitted to hospital with an inguinal hernia, he was visited by Eto'o who is said to have donated 500,000 CFA francs - around £686 - as well as having pledged to help Owona.
Owona described 37-year-old Eto'o, who also played for Barcelona and is a four-time African footballer of the year - as "a very kind man."
