Full-time: What a performance from Leeds and Patrick Bamford, who end Aston Villa's 100 per cent winning start in some style!
Close! Almost a consolation for Villa. Barkley releases Watkins and slightly to the right of goal, he fires a powerful shot just wide of the far post. There will be FIVE minutes of stoppage time to play!
Save! Bamford is hungry for his fourth! He heads at Martinez from Shackleton's cross.
Over! What an impact from Raphina! He's immediately involved as he lifts a ball to the left to Harrison. He cuts it back to Hernandez, who has all the time in the world, but blasts it over the bar!
- OffHélder CostaLeeds United
- OnRaphinhaLeeds United
Leeds sub: Raphinha comes on for Costa.
VAR check! Hernandez's cross is deflected onto the hand of Douglas Luiz's raised hand. But common sense is applied and there will be no penalty given.
- OffRodrigoLeeds United
- OnPablo HernándezLeeds United
Leeds sub: That will be Rodrigo's final action - he's replaced by Hernandez.
Leeds win a free-kick 20 yards out. Rodrigo, who is still searching for his first goal for the club, fires well wide.
Villa are throwing caution to the wind in search of a goal back. But that's playing with fire. Leeds are absolutely devastating on the counter-attack.
- GoalPatrick BamfordLeeds United
GOAL! Aston Villa 0-3 Leeds United (Patrick Bamford): A hat-trick for Bamford! Oh it's another beauty! After another fine team move, the ball falls to Bamford inside the box, who shows beautiful close control before opening his body and curling it into the corner!
Leeds may not be finished just yet. Mings' attempted clearance falls to Klich, who stabs an effort straight at Martinez.
- Yellow cardJack GrealishAston Villa
Yellow card! Grealish gets cautioned for dissent, as Villa's frustration grows. They have a lot to do now.
- GoalPatrick BamfordLeeds United
GOAL! Aston Villa 0-2 Leeds (Patrick Bamford): A beauty from Bamford puts Leeds in total control! Klich runs through midfield and finds Bamford, who puts very little back-lift in his shot but finds the top corner with a wonderful effort!
No penalty! There's a coming together between Bamford and Mings inside the penalty area! Bamford has gone over on his ankle and reacts by shoving Mings. VAR is having a look at this... but decides against giving Leeds a penalty!
Just wide! Helder Costa fizzes a cross into the box and Klich. He rifles a shot at goal but he slices it and it's another let off for Villa!
It's all Leeds United at the moment, and all of the danger is coming from the wings. Harrison stands up another teasing cross and it's headed behind by Konsa. Villa have to weather this storm.
The deadlock has finally been broken in an absorbing contest! Bamford missed two gilt-edged opportunities in the first half - but he has made amends!
- GoalPatrick BamfordLeeds United
GOAL! Aston Villa 0-1 Leeds (Bamford): A typical poacher's goal from Bamford gives Leeds the lead! It's another great counter-attacking goal from Bielsa's men! The visitors move the ball incredibly quickly to the opposite side of the pitch. Rodrigo shoots from a tight angle, Martinez spills it and Bamford taps home with the rebound!
Top save! Konsa is denied a birthday goal by the Leeds goalkeeper! Grealish picks out the Villa defender, who stabs it at goal, but Mesilier pushes it behind!
Chance for Villa! What a goal this would have been! Grealish leaves Helder Costa in his wake as he drives from inside his own half. He drops the shoulder to beat Koch as he bears down on goal... but he can't find a way past Mesilier! That would have been a goal we would have talked about for years!
Free-kick to Villa. Grealish tries to feed it across the box, hard and low, but gets it wrong as the ball hits the side of the net. A waste.
Over! One-touch football from Leeds in around the Villa box. The ball is worked to Costa, whose shot is charged down by Targett. The scraps fall to Alioski, but he blazes his shot miles over the bar.
Save! A lovely diagonal ball out of defence from Koch picks out Harrison, whose direct running causes Villa problems. He carves inside and unloads a shot, but it's straight at Martinez.
- 2nd Half
Kick-off! Villa get us back underway in the second half. There are no changes in personnel from either side.
- End of 1st Half
Half-time: Somehow it's all level at the break. The game has been played an incredible pace, but we have yet to have a breakthrough at Villa Park!
One minute of added time to play!
Bamford goes close again! This would have been an absolutely brilliant goal! Rodrigo ushers Harrison down the left. His low cross picks out Bamford who stabs it wide of goal! He should do better!
No penalty! Paul Tierney doesn't move as Grealish is bundled over from behind by Helder Costa. There is minimal contact and VAR approves the referee's decision.
Down at the opposite end and it's Villa's turn to force a corner. Again it's a poor delivery as Meslier gathers. He springs a Leeds attack, but Cash - who is having a fine game - provides the cover and wins the ball back.
Another Leeds corner. It's taken short and Alioski whips it in. But it's plucked out of the air by Martinez who collects comfortably.
Klich delivers a corner from the left, finding Bamford, but he can't keep his header down.
You can't take your eyes off this contest. Intelligent movement from Bamford sees him get the wrong side of Konsa, but Mings steps in to intervene.
Grealish's shot is never troubling Meslier. And now Leeds break forward in large numbers. Cash sends it down the line for Alioski, but Villa recover.
It was a mistake from Ayling that presented Villa with the opportunity in the first place. But he made amends with a superb goal-line clearance. Grealish thought it was in, but the goal-line technology says not. It was close.
Off the line! Watkins' cross finds Trezeguet, who feeds Grealish. And ambitious as ever, the England international takes aim from a tight angle but his goal-bound shot is off the line from Ayling!
Dallas stands up an inviting cross, but the ever dependable Konsa is well positioned to head it clear. It comes back to the Northern Irishman, who drags his shot well wide.
- OffPascal StruijkLeeds United
- OnJamie ShackletonLeeds United
Leeds make a ridiculously early change, with Struijk - who was walking on egg shells on a yellow card - replaced by Jamie Shackleton in midfield. It's a first taste of Premier League football for the 20-year-old!
An outrageous first touch from Grealish as he controls with the outside of his boot to leave Dallas in his wake.
Bamford with an effort this time, but he scuffs it tamely at goal. Three goals already this season, but he has snatched at his chances so far here.
There's a mistake in the Leeds midfield and Villa pounce, with Barkley trying his luck from distance. It's straight forward for Meslier, though.
Better from Villa, who force their first corner of the match. It's a poor delivery and Leeds immediately spring an attack on the break. But it comes to nothing.
Villa are clinging on here! Helder Costa sends in another really dangerous cross, but it's just in front of Rodrigo, who can't sort his feet out!
Villa fail to clear the subsequent corner delivery convincingly. It falls to Alioski, who goes for goal from 25 yards, but it's straight at the goalkeeper.
Chance! Leeds turn defence into attack in a blink of an eye - and they should be ahead! Harrison slaloms his way into the box, feeds Alioski, who delivers a low ball across the face of goal, picking out Rodrigo. His first-time shot is blocked by Konso. Excellent defending!
Stuijk is a fraction late on Douglas Luiz and having been booked a moment ago, he needs to be careful.
- Yellow cardPascal StruijkLeeds United
Yellow card! Grealish is caught by Struijk's sliding tackle in the middle of the pitch - but the referee Paul Tierney allows play to continue. Villa eventually give the ball up and the ref goes back to book the Leeds holding midfielder.
Barkley gives Helder Costa a little shove, and with the flanker running at full speed he goes over. The referee decides against giving Leeds the free-kick though.
Leeds have made exactly the kind of start we would have expected. Aggressive, in-your-face, one touch-football.
Leeds go close! Alioski delivers a sensational deep cross from the left flank and Bamford does everything right but can't quite find the far corner he was searching for with his diving header!
It has been open start to proceedings at Villa Park. Watkins drops deep and plays a pass into the feet of Trezeguet, who whips a cross to the far post where Koch heads clear.
Block! Leeds conjure up a move down the right flank, with Helder Costa carving inside but seeing his shot blocked by Targett.
Alioski does well to steal the ball from Trezeguet and then draws the foul from the Villa wideman.
- 1st Half
Kick-off! The players take the knee and then Leeds get us underway!
Five minutes until kick-off! It's Aston Villa versus Leeds in the Premier League. It's LIVE and it's NEXT!
Ten minutes until kick-off at Villa Park! A reminder that the hosts will go top if they avoid defeat tonight, while Leeds would move above reigning champions Liverpool with victory.
Luke Ayling is set to play at centre-back tonight, with Stuart Dallas moved to right-back and Alioski going to left-back. It's something of a makeshift back four for Leeds.
Pre-match stat: Leeds United's last league visit to Villa Park saw the Whites come from two goals down to win 3-2 in December 2018, with Kemar Roofe scoring the winner in the 90th minute.
Who could forget the extraordinary scenes in the last meeting between these two sides? Here, have a look!
Bielsa on Villa: "The results that Aston Villa have had at the beginning of the season don’t need me to comment on them, they speak for themselves. Their victory over the reigning champions shows how good of a moment they are currently in.”
Smith stresses his side aren't getting carried away despite their remarkable start to the season. He said: "To come through those with maximum points certainly exceeds expectations. Sheffield United, Fulham and ourselves would have looked at those opening two games and seen an opportunity to pick up points. We managed to win both of them and then you go into Liverpool and Leicester, who are both top-five teams. Our feet are firmly on the ground because, if you're off it at any stage in the league, you can get a bloody nose very quickly."
The sides on that day? Aston Villa: Sorensen, De la Cruz, Mellberg, Dublin (Johnsen 48), Samuel, Solano, Hendrie (Ridgewell 86), Hitzlsperger, Barry, Angel, Vassell (Crouch 86) /// Leeds: Robinson, Kelly, Caldwell, Matteo, Domi, Pennant (Lennon 63), Bakke (Richardson 86), Seth Johnson, Milner, Viduka, Smith.
It was February 7, 2004, when these sides last met in the top-flight. Villa won 2-0, with Juan Pablo Angel and Ronny Johnsen grabbing the goals.
Ezgjan Alioski comes in for the injured Kalvin Phillips, as Marcelo Bielsa names just one change from the side that lost to Wolves on Monday night. Liam Cooper is still missing with a groin problem.
Dean Smith names an unchanged side from the one that defeated Leicester last time out. Keinan Davis has overcome a calf problem but is only named on the bench.
Aston Villa XI: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett, Luiz, McGinn, Trezeguet, Barkley, Grealish, Watkins.. subs: Steer, Hourihane, Traore, Nakamba, Engels, Elmohamady, K Davis. /// Leeds XI: Meslier, Alioski, Koch, Ayling, Dallas, Struijk, Klich, Costa, Harrison, Rodrigo, Bamford.. subs: Casilla, Poveda-Ocampo, Roberts, Raphinha, Hernandez, L Davis, Shackleton.
