Full time: It's a comfortable afternoon's work for Manchester City. First-half goals from Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne prove the difference here at the Etihad.

Two minutes to be added on here. City are moving back into the top four. Remarkably, despite their slow start to the season, they are now just three points behind leaders Spurs.

Cairney delivers a free-kick from the left flank, which City clear. Anguissa teases a ball back into the middle but Ederson collects convincingly.

Cairney replaces Loftus-Cheek in Parker's final roll of the dice.

It's strange that, with just nine minutes of normal time remaining, Pep still hasn't made a single substitution. Fulham, meanwhile, are preparing their third.

Fulham gets numbers forward on the counter attack but Cavaleiro decides to go it alone, shooting early and failing to test Ederson.

Mahrez wins the free-kick, De Bruyne floats the cross into the path of Dias, who again fluffs his lines as he volleys off target.

A half-chance for Aine, but he drags a shot well wide of goal. Time is running out for Fulham's comeback.

Mahrez slips it down the right hand side for Jesus, but he's too hesitant and Aradabioyo makes an important challenge.

Kamara comes on for Decordova-Reid as Parker makes his second change for Fulham.

Chance! De Bruyne's corner delivery comes through a crowd of bodies and falls to Dias, who can't connect with the shot, slicing it well wide.

Adrabioyo has gone down with a suspected groin problem, but he's going to remain on the pitch. Instead, Lemina replaces Reed.

Over! A well worked corner off the training ground sees Mahrez rolling the ball to De Bruyne on the edge of the penalty area. He tries the first-time shot but gets far too much on it.

City had looked rampant at times in the first half but they have taken their foot off the gas since the restart. And now Cancelo takes a touch too many and when he finally releases the pass De Bruyne had the brakes applied. Goal-kick to Fulham.

Phil Foden, Eric Garcia and Torres are all warming up for City.

Brilliant save! That was the chance to seal it for City! Fulham's defence is worryingly high and a simple cushioned pass from Mahrez releases De Bruyne through on goal. Areola, however, is off his line really quickly to narrow the angle and make the save!

Sterling charges forward menacingly once more but Andersen stands his ground and shepherds the ball out of play

An exquisite touch from Mahrez, who looks full of confidence, to find Cancelo down the right flank. City can only win the corner but a third goal doesn't seem far away.

Almost a second for De Bruyne! City open up Fulham on the counter-attack, with De Bruyne exchanging passes with Jesus before striking the crossbar from 15 yards out.

Jesus is waiting in space in the middle as Mahrez drives to the byline but the Algeria international can't pick him out as Fulham clear.

Kick-off! Fulham get us underway in the second half! No changes in personnel from either side just yet, with Mitrovic remaining on the bench for the visitors.

Half-time: Manchester City 2-0 Fulham. This one is as good as over thanks to Raheem Sterling's opener and Kevin De Bruyne's penalty conversion.

Almost another! Sterling stays onside to receive Rodri's pass. He shoots from point-blank range but it's deflected behind for another City corner.

There's a reluctance from Fulham to take a shot as they finally make a rare foray forward. Lookman takes a touch too many and City have a goal-kick.

Again there's too much space for Cancelo down the right as he delivers a cross. Adarabioyo clears with his head and a tidy move from Loftus-Cheek sees Fulham retain possession.

Have a look at City's opener...

Did you know? Manchester City have only failed to score in one of their 26 Premier League meetings with Fulham (W13 D9 L4), doing so in a goalless draw at the Etihad in March 2004.

Fulham still can't get out of their own half. Parker is rather powerless, isn't he? There's still a long way to go and you have to fear for the visitors.

That's quite the record from Sterling, who is proving a nightmare for Fulham playing through the middle this afternoon.

Great save! Mahrez flicks a ball over the top for Sterling to race on to. He shoots early on the volley and Areola does well to push it behind!

What is this about?! Ederson rushes off his line but Stones doesn't look up and there's obviously no communication from Ederson as the defender tries to knock it back to his goalkeeper totally unaware he's not where he should be! It could end up in the back of his net but it's just a few yards wide. That would have been a ridiculous own goal!

GOAL! Man City 2-0 Fulham (Kevin De Bruyne, pen): No problem for De Bruyne, who sends the goalkeeper the wrong way as he strokes the penalty to the right corner. Two-nil. Game over already? It's a long way back from here.

Penalty to Man City! Andersen catches Sterling on the knee with his left foot and the referee points to the spot. Let's face it, there is no clear and obvious error here and the referee's decision is going to stand.

Fulham can't get out - there's no outlet - and Rodri blazes a shot miles over the bar from 25 yards.

City work a really clever short free-kick, De Bruyne then switches it to Mendy, who is in acres of space on the left. He hammers a cross into the heart of the Fulham defence but the visitors survive.

Mahrez's delivery isn't a good one and Fulham clear comfortably at the near post. It must be so frustrating for a manager when the corner fails to beat the first man.

It's wave after wave of City attack, and the second goal seems inevitable. Fulham have another corner to defend now.

Cancelo is causing problems on the overlap and he sneaks in behind the Fulham defence to latch onto De Bruyne's through ball. He cuts it back for Gundogan whose first-time shot ends up in row-Z.

Fulham are working incredibly hard but City have already scored and created two or three really good chances. This could end up a cricket score.

Total domination from City in the first 15 minutes. 72 per cent of possession, five shots and three on target.

Good save! De Bruyne, with just one goal to his name this season, sees his shot from the angle take a wicked deflection. It's creeping at the near post but Areola does well to keep it out.

Good defending from Fulham's captain Andersen who clears at the near post from Cancelo's dangerous cross at the expense of a corner.

There's much space in the middle as Cancelo races forward, with the run of De Bruyne sucking in Fulham defenders. The wingback cuts onto his left foot and curls a shot well over the bar.

Adarabioyo rises highest to meet the deep delivery from the corner but he can't generate enough power in his header to find the top corner he was searching for.

But Lookman is always a threat for Fulham, and he dances into the City penalty area only to see his shot deflected behind for a corner. Now, can the visitors drag themselves back into the game from this set-piece?

Like they did against Burnley, City have the lead early doors. It could be a long old afternoon for Fulham alright.

GOAL! Man City 1-0 Fulham (Raheem Sterling): There is no mistake this time! It's another assist for De Bruyne, who unlocks the Fulham defence with a beautifully-weighted pass into the path of Sterling. He races through and tucks it past Areola for his sixth goal of the season.

Big save! Fulham's game plan is almost ruined but for a fantastic stop by Areola. The visitors are totally asleep at the back as Mahrez slipped through Sterling but his finish lacked any conviction and Areola saves with his foot.

Fulham, as expected, are playing with a back five. They'll expect City to have plenty of the ball, and the plan will be to sit deep and hope they can play effectively on the counter-attack like they did at Leicester on Monday.

Kick-off! The players take the knee and then City get us underway!

FIVE minutes until kick-off at the Etihad! It's Manchester City versus Fulham in the Premier League. It's LIVE and it's NEXT!

Man City looked back to their brilliant best in the 5-0 victory over Burnley last Saturday, although they were held to a goalless draw by Porto in midweek. Will Fulham manage to contain them or will City - who are without Sergio Aguero - prove too strong?

Did you know? Fulham are winless in their last 15 meetings with Man City in all competitions (D3 L12) since a 3-1 Premier League win at the Etihad in April 2009.

Parker: "When you do get a result against a very tough team, I don’t think anyone expected us to get a result and we went and got a result and played extremely well. So with that brings a little bit of extra confidence and an extra bit of belief and that helps on the way. So a big result for us on Monday and something for us to build on. Not just to build on come Saturday or against Liverpool but for the remainder of the season really.”

Everton draw with Burnley to stay in seventh and are one of seven teams City can leapfrog with victory today. It's a result that doesn't do either side any favours as the Clarets remain 19th, a point behind Fulham.

Pep has been explaining the decision to start Stones today to BT Sport: "John played really good last two games, he deserved to continue to play. It always depends on performance. The skills and qualities are there or you couldn’t play for Man City. So it’s how you perform every training session every day."

Pre-match stat: Manchester City have won each of their last nine meetings with Fulham in all competitions, netting 27 goals while conceding just three in this run.

So what can we make of Laporte's exclusion? Well, here's what Pep said in Friday's press conference: "This is about the performance, not about the quality. The quality we know they have, they are top players but it’s about performance. The performance has to be better and better than the day before."

If it's not broke why fix it? Parker names the same Fulham side that won so impressively at Leicester on Monday evening.

Guardiola makes two changes from the Man City team that flattened Burnley 5-0 last Saturday, with Raheem Sterling coming into the side at the expense of Ferran Torres and Joao Cancelo replacing Kyle Walker. That means there's still no place in defence for Aymeric Laporte, with Ruben Dias and John Stones starting together as centre-halves once more.

Man City XI: Ederson, Cancelo, Dias, Stones, Mendy, Gundogan, Rodrigo, Mahrez, De Bruyne, Sterling, Jesus.. subs: Steffen, Laporte, Silva, Fernandinho, Torres, Foden, Garcia. /// Fulham XI: Areola, Aina, Andersen, Adarabioyo, Robinson, Decordova-Reid, Reed, Anguissa, Lookman, Loftus-Cheek, Cavaleiro.. subs: Rodak, Mitrovic, Cairney, Ream, Lemina, Bryan, Kamara.
