Aguero gets his first chance to try and inflict some damage on the Hammers rearguard. He turns well on the left of the area, but lacks support and he can't manufacture space for the shot.

Fernandinho is on the end of a late challenge from Tomas Soucek after Ederson's hospital pass almost gifted the visitors a sight of goal. It was well dealt with under pressure by Fernandinho, but he took a knock, which he should run off, for his troubles.

City are unbeaten in 26 games across all competitions, winning just the 23 along the way. The Citizens are two matches short of their longest run without defeat under Pep Guardiola, which they set in 2017.

City have had all of the ball and are patiently probing. You sense that is pretty much how it's going to be for the whole match. West Ham will look to frustrate the hosts and counter when they can.

Steve McManaman and Joe Cole wax lyrical about Phil Foden. Will he shine if given a cameo from the bench once again today?

Bernardo Silva (on the bench today) on City’s strong backbone: “It is the key to winning competitions; to have a solid defence, a solid team that doesn’t concede many chances or goals. We are happy with how solid our defenders, goalkeeper and midfielders are and everyone helps from the striker to the goalkeeper.”

Guardiola: "They (West Ham) are in a Champions League position. That is not a good run, that’s many months and they are there. David Moyes... I admire these kinds of people. Like Roy Hodgson, they have long careers. I would love these kinds of careers. The season will speak for itself . He (Moyes) knows football perfectly. Like Carlo Ancelotti, everything is calm. They live like a Buddha life. They have that experience to do this."

David Moyes on West Ham’s surprise top four push: “... We are enjoying it, but also we're not going to go daft. We'd be stupid to say anything and we're going to keep calm about it. But hopefully we keep pushing pressurising the teams near the top of the table.”

Jesse Lingard: “I've come here to play football week-in, week-out and that's what I'm doing. Playing football makes me happy and when we win and play like we did on Sunday (v Spurs) nothing can top that. It's about doing it consistently and that's maybe where I've struggled before, doing it consistently in games, but I can feel now I'm coming to an age where I can keep that consistency and focus and concentration coming into games and playing games week-in, week-out which I haven't been used to.”

West Ham make two changes to the side that defeated Spurs last time out. There's a really significant one too, with Darren Randolph replacing the injured Lukasz Fabianski between the sticks. Elsewhere, Ben Johnson takes Jarrod Bowen's spot.

So, the big news for the hosts sees Aguero make his first start since October, which was also against West Ham. He is one of seven changes to the team that eased to an away victory at Borussia Moenchengladbach in the Champions League in midweek. John Stones, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fernandinho, Riyad Mahrez, Kevin de Bruyne and Ferran Torres also start.
