Full Time

Fiinally....the Blades are back in the winner's enclosure. They truly earned it too.

So close! Bogle almost sent the ball past Ramsdale for an own goal! Ramsdale had to run backwards and scramble it behind for a corner.

Hayden gets a yellow card for fouling Brewster. Newcastle showing their frustration.

Jagielka comes on for McGoldrick to help secure the victory.

Substitute Jacob Murphy, just on for Yedlin, curls it over the wall but Ramsdale is well-positioned to make the stop.

McGoldrick goes in the book for a silly foul Ritchie that gives them a great chance of testing Ramsdale from 25 yards out.

Schaer goes into the book for a body check on McGoldrick. He's still angry about that foul from Sharp.

Brewster hits the post! Another decent effort from the substitute. Once more turning at pace like Cyrille Regis, this time just 30 yards from goal and his effort is deflected against the woodwork.

Hendrick crosses from the left and Wilson gets his head on it but straight into the arms of Ramsdale.

Sharp receives a yellow card for a cynical foul on Shaer. Could have even been a red.

Ritchie looks for fellow sub Carroll but his cross is a little too far in front of him.

Andy Carroll comes on for Fernandez.

Brewster turns just inside the Newcastle half and races to the edge of the penalty area before driving wide of goal. You do look at him sometimes and think he has a world of potential.

Newcastle being too sluggish in sending Matt Ritichie on for Dummett before who left the field and the Magpies down to nine men during that attack which created the goal.

GOAL! Sharp sends Darlow the wrong way and puts the Blades in front.

PENALTY! It did look on the replay that Fernandez swiped the ball away looking down.

Sharp goes down in the box under the close attention of Fernandez and the ball struck his hand as they were running onto the ball but it looked like Sharp had a lock on his arm when this happened. VAR are checking it.

Brewster heads across goal but Darlow does well to come out and punch clear above McGoldrick.

The short corner reaches Lundstram in the area who shoots at goal but his effort is blocked.

Brewster gets in behind Fernandez and puts it back across the six-yard box but Dummett clears.

Again Bogle finds space in the box he turns inside Hendrick but shoots wide of the target.

Billy Sharp comes on for Burke. Less dynamic but more likely to put away a chance perhaps.

I personally would put Ampadu a bit further up the pitch. He is their best passer.

Newcastle have settled now comfortably in a defensive shape. The Blades have had 88% in the last five minutes but no chances created.

Brewster comes on for Basham as Chris Wilder looking at Steve Bruce's defensive set up looks to put another man upfront.

As you were as the Blades are having all the play. Initially Yedlin cleared well before the ball broke for Bogle at the far post but Darlow came out and spread himself superbly.

Sheffield United get us back underway...

Half Time

The Blades may have gone in at half time disappointed not to be ahead but Fraser getting sent off for a second booking in quick succession will make them believe they will get a winner in the second half.

Fraser is sent off after a slightly late challenge on McGoldrick, who swan-dived to be fair. Missed Fraser's first booking earlier. It looked a harsh dismissal.

Bogle this time with a chance, he turns inside Dummett and then blasts at goal but Darlow parries away well.

Almost as good defending from Dummett. McGoldrick hit a ball across towards the back post but with Lundstram waiting to tap in the full back on the stretch somehow cleared a yard from his goal.

Contender for tackle of the season from Fernandez, Burke seemed through on goal but the defender denied him with a perfectly-timed crunching tackle.

Hayden won a header from a corner which hit either Fernandez or Egan's arm as they scrapped for the ball. VAR check it but rightly there is no penalty.

Great block by Osborn as Hayden was about to strike at goal for the Magpies.

Burke races onto a ball down the left flank then drifts inside and tries a low effort towards the far corner but his effort is blocked by Schaer.

Hayden gets a a telling off for a late challenge on Ampadu. No real malice in it but not surprising Newcastle looking to get tight on the on-loan Chelsea man.

Great chance at the other end! McGoldrick really had to finish it. Ampadu put in a fine inswinging cross form the left flank which seemed to catch Darlow out of position and McGoldrick rose over Dummett at the back post but could not keep his header down.

Chance for Wilson! Fernandez put in a cross first time after receiving his throw back to him and Wilson got his head to the ball ahead of Egan but it flew wide.

The Blades do just lack that inspiration when they get in the final third though. Didn't help themself with a short corner there which allowed Fraser to block Bogle's subsequent cross.

Sheffield United have dominated these first twenty minutes. Chris Wilder will be disappointed they have no reward for it.

Newcastle living dangerously too much time for Lundstram in the penalty area and he blasts towards the goal but over the bar.

A great chance for McGoldrick. Burke flicks the ball back to Lundstram who plays in McGoldrick in the inside left position in the penalty area and he opens his body up to aim low for the far corner but Darlow saves on the stretch.

Burke this time receives the ball running down the left flank, playing back to Lundstram whose curling effort is well wide of the target.

Basham plays in Burke in the right hand side of the penalty area but his cross is cleared well by Fernandez.

Schaer clears Bogle's inswinging corner.

Osborn gets to the by-line and puts in a low cross which Yedlin sends behind for the first corner.

Newcastle launch a free kick into the Blades box but Lundstram heads it safely back to Ramsdale.

Newcastle get us underway...

Sheffield United are available at a touch under 6/4 to get their first win in the league. It's probably as short a price as they've been all season. Newcastle are available at a tad over 5/2.

The one change Chris Wilder has made from the side that beat the Gas at the weekend is starting Oliver Burke in place of Lys Mousset after the former West Brom forward made a big impact after coming off the bench in the Cup.

Newcastle have drawn two and lost three in their last five games since beating West Brom a month ago.

A rare feeling for Sheffield United coming into this game on the back of a win. A feeling they haven't experienced since July. Admittedly only against Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup but they will take any buoy they can at this stage.

A man maybe more than any other in the English game who deserves the precursor BIG, Andy Carroll starts for the Magpies tonight since he left for Liverpool ten years ago. **My mistake, he starts on the bench - as you were.

While the Blades' fate seems sealed win or lose, Newcastle would like a win to put 11 points between them and third-bottom Fulham.

Trying to deny Sheffield United their first league victory of the season are this side.

Here is how Sheffield United are lining up.
